Since when has this gotten so horrendously expensive?

Mine's always been quite expensive because it's a grammer school blah blah blah

But seriously, today I spent £70 on one shirt, a skirt and a cardigan. Luckily I already have shoes, bag, tie, blazer, socks, tights, and other shirts

Apparently blazers have gone up to over £100 when they used to be £70

I'd hate to have two or three kids needing uniform at the same time.

And I'm only wearing it for one more year ARGGH

When I started senior school in 2000 my mum and dad spent over £600 on my uniform. My school insisted everything was regulation and all had to be embroidered with your name (which was about £1.50 per item). I had a labcoat, apron, gym knickers, netball skirt, 2 gym tops, a tracksuit, jumpers, blazer, blouses, tie (which they got rid of when I was there for a couple of years :cheer: ) skirts (which I took the hem up on in home economics!). Add on shoes, tights, navy/black hair clips and it got proper expensive.... they are about to do it all over agian with my brother!

I remember other kids being teased for having a second hand uniform but that was the kind of school I went to- we had £1500 skiing trips and £100 day trips to Ypres...

 maybe I'll home school Evie.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I originally thought this thread was in the wrong section and needed to go in the "older children" bit.... then I saw who posted it

:rotfl: :rotfl:

sorry ZS!

my sister had my old blazer... but they have changed the name of the school since and so the uniform. Now year 11 + they can wear suits instead of uniforms.

And when i was in year 10 & 11 (we had no 6th form then) we had jumpers instead of blazers.

we did have stupid ties though...

im hoping for alice to go to my old infant and junior school - my mum still has my old uniform :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (im kidding about using it btw, im not that cheap!!!!)

I know it is rediculous the cost of them. I had to go pick up my nephews school uniforms the other week and take them out to SIL as she doesnt drive, just about died when the woman in the shop asked me to pay for them and then realised they had already been paid for in advance.

I think not having a uniform in my schools would have made life hell for a lot of girls. I remember that on 'non-uniform days' I would plan my outfit weeks in advance- there's no way I could have kept up with a lot of the girls and their ever changing wardrobes.

I know, I was discussing it with my friend (who went to school with me!) the other week how on earth did I manage to afford all my clothes back then as my Mum & Dad would only buy me my coat and shoe at the beginning of term, but practically my whole school wardrobe was from Oasis!
