Scan due date - I think its wrong!

I had my scan today and they told me the scan showed me to be 13 weeks and 2 days - the MW then said my EDD is 5th August. So firstly, my new ticker says I am 13 weeks and 4 days and when I think back to the times we there were only two days that we did it, the 17th and 18th of November - my last period began on the 5th November so how on earth can I be 13 weeks and two days? I didnt ovulate earlier and I didnt earlier - anyone think I may just have a bigger for date baby growing? They went on the head measurement. Im confused now!

Tbh I only ever go on LMP date and not scan date, maybe just a bigger baby

Yep Mamafy thats what I think too, also I looked at the scan pic again and the date on it says the 29th January when I was scanned today?!

It's the CRL or head that they base it on. what does the slip say about the EDD or how far the estimate you to be?

Yes I watched her do the head measurement, it said I am 13 weeks and 2 days. Then the MW told me my EDD is 5th August, that doesnt seem right to me either as I worked it out as 7th August going on how far it said I am..who knows, I'll just have to wait and see!

I had this too - i'm five day futher along and it is impossible for me to be that far gone! - just assuming that its going to be a bigger baby, second scan confirmed my dates as correct so unless its divine intervention i would say the dating san are based on averages that don't fit all babies.

They put me ahead both times too and I was totally sure of my dates. I had 2 big boys so you may just have a big one in there! I'd stick with their date though as if you go overdue the date they book you in for an induction will be earlier

it might be right hun sperm can live upto 5 days in the vagina bit so maybe it was just a late sperm that caught the egg and egg was a little early?!?!?! im a little confused so im just trying to make something up haha!!! im sure with only 2 days oput it wont make much defference to be honest in the long run did you enjoy the scan?? x x

Hang on a minute, Im 14 weeks today and my due date is 3rd August so you should only be 2 days behind me? CONFUSED! I think this just proved its not an exact science by a long shot!

I was quite surprised when they said my dates were right cos I did wonder whether I was pg before my LMP, which was lighter than usual, I had had leaky boobs before that which really freaked me out! I wonder whether Im having a small baby. I was a tiny baby myself and Im only 5ft1 by mum is less than 5ft, and my OH is short for a guy. So yeah if they measure how 'tall' the baby is, its actually quite surprising that my baby is the average height for gestation?

Im prattling on but I get what you mean! Just enjoy the later dates and jumping a little bit further through the pregnancy

The hospital will do on their dates. It doesnt reeeeally matter which you use. The only time it really comes into play is when you go over due - then they will refer back to the scan. My MW was working on the same date all the way through and by her date my baby was born at 40+1.....when I looked at my notes in the birth centre ie my hospital receords - they said the baby was born at 39+5.......

they never show up on the actual date anyway do they. Would be nice if they were punctual, you could really get organised!

Exactly! We all get so hung up and fixated on that date that it can make it mentally quite damaging when it passes and you have no baby.....less than 5% come on their due date apparently.

My dates have been all over the place too but I'm just using August 5th as EDD as that was the last date the MW came up with. My LMP was 30th October so should be about right. I should have been 13 weeks exactly when the scan was done but it showed 13+2 although MW said she will only change EDD if it's + or - 7 days. But yeah, if you were due 5th August then that would make you 13+6 today, like me!

Im defo sticking to my date, we only BD on two days, the first being the day I noticed my lovely cervical mucus was egg white in appearence exactly a week later I had implantation cramps - Im not fixated on a due date, baby will come when he/she is ready - I wont be being induced either because of my last section, if they did induce it would have to be very gentle, thats what my consultant said on Monday. We will see what date bubs decides to join the world

I think you are right Hope - there is no way I caught earlier as we didnt have any sort of sex! big babies I reckon x
