Desperate now ladies!

I've done Gaviscon.....crap, done Rennie........better but sorts it for 10 minutes, done milk.......good but again, sorts me for a short while.

I went to the doc and she gave me some shit called Maalox Suspension which is essentially watered down milk of magnesia. I'm at my wits end as it's ruining EVERYTHING!!! I have the diet of a 6 month old so I don't aggravate it.

Again, the famous moaning from Lex but there must be something I haven't tried?? Anyone? Someone? Lol xx

lol nope sorry no advice.. Im back on the gaviscon and on the odd occasion i chomp on ice i feel this works but not for long haha

Gaviscon has helped me hun. I think there is a tablet you can be prescribed from the doc! You should ask them because nothing else is working.

One I have noticed my heartburn is worse with white bread, Ive switched to whole meal and it isn't so bad, mind Im still popping rennies like sweets :(

I love this thread just beacuse im exactly the same and nothing is working... I tried changing my diet and it didnt work so im just eating as normal now cos i still feel as shite either way.

Have you tried fresh yogurt? like greek yogurt? really cold out the fridge.. ive got a kilo od tub in my fridge and everytime i go in the fridge i have a big spoonful.. kind of works the same as milk but as long as i have a spoonful everytime i go in the fridge its working better than anything else. If only it worked through the night too :(

i know how you feel, its shocking. also every time a bend down even slightly, the acid reflux starts. I am drinking about 5 pints of milk a day! I also find the gaviscon tablets work better than the liquid. my midwife reckons it's worse because the baby is breech at the moment and her head is high up.

Same here, got prescribed big bottle of gaviscon, it doesn't work very well for me and it makes me gag. Also only short term relief from rennies and milk. I noticed that chewing gum worked the other day, the airwaves one. But same problem with it only working a little while, until the strong taste wears off. Xxx

Ah thanks guys. Crap isn't it? I LOVE milk too but if I drink too much of it it binds my stomach and I get bad wind and runs (tmi obviously). Otherwise I'd be on a drip of it or something!

Might try the natural yoghurt approach as I do like that and I can imagine freezing cold would do the trick!

Amanda suggested cutting out White bread but I rarely eat it anyway.

Would love it to piss off for a bit! Saying that, I've been golden since the beginning of Eastenders tonight so that's almost an hour of relief!!

I can't stand milk it makes me throw up!!!!

I get terrible acid normally in life so I take tablets from doctor, but during pregnancy they've put me through Gaviscon then Ranitidine then Lansoprazole - if it's really bad why not see if you can get Ranitidine? The docs book says Ranitidine is ok to take if Gaviscon doesn't work.

I used to get lansoprazole prescribed and it was amazing and really worked for me! Did it work for you Ashlea?

Lansoprazole, are they the ones that rattle if u shake them? If so I was given them for heartburn a few years ago and they were really good. Are these safe in pregnancy? If so I might ask doc xxx

EDIT: just asked my mum and the ones I was given were Omeprazole... Almost the same! Might give the docs a call if it carries on bad.

I got prescribed peptus? Just throwing in another name for you to try  x

Heidi I'd ask if I were you. If the doc prescribes them then I'm sure it'll be fine. X

Pinky, yeah I LOVE my Lansoprazole! One every other day sorts me out cracking! That's what I normally take but when I told them I was preggers they made me stop and do the recommended Gaviscon shit etc which, surprisingly, was no more help when pregnant than when not pregnant. I wasn't a fan of the Ranitidine either so in Tri 3 I'm allowed my lovely Lansoprazole again. I *heart* it  I'd clearly die in the wild.

Heidi, mine don't rattle, they're in blister packs and though I've never pulled a capsule open, I'm pretty sure it's powder inside not little balls (which I assume are the rattle-makers!)

Wicked wicked wicked!!!

I'm gonna put all the names of those meds to the doc in the morning for her to look up in her little book and PICK ONE!!!! not being fobbed off my them anymore.

Thanks for all those lovelies! I'll let you know how I get on xxx

Yeeeeeah! Got my Omeprazole! Hope it works! Thank you ladies xxx

Yeah the ones I had were in blister packs like a foil sort of stuff, maybe it was that they rattled in the pack not when I swallowed then! I just remember rattling of some kind! Xxx

Lexus, that's great! I'm gonna make an appointment with doc after I see midwife next week coz I want some now! Xxx
