Aw, i find that out of order. But maybe they've just forgotten that you said that's the name you're taking...so i'd tell them again, just to remind them. If they hadn't forgotten then that's not very fair on you.

We had a smiliar situation with my brother. From the moment I got pg with Molly we had Molly for a girl and Sam for a boy. We told my parents but admitedly my brother didn't know.
They were expecting a boy three weeks before us, and they short listed Sam and Ben. I just rang my brother and told him that we had chosen Sam four years ago and we were going to name our little boy Sam. He was fine about it thank goodness, but my OH was adament that we would have called him Sam even if they had. Sam was the only name we ever wanted and we weren't going to change it.

are they defo having a girl?
if they are and you have a chat with them and they still want to use that name, then there isnt much you can do about it unfortunately.
i'd be really pissed if i was in that situation. But if its your husbands cousin then do you see them often? if you dont i would still go ahead and call my baby the same. Or how about a double barrelled name like Ava-Rose or Ava-Mae?

I'd stand my ground and call my little girl Serenity even if someone close to me 'stole' the name, if they got aggitated about it i'd remind them that Serenity was my chosen name for my girl and had been for a long time.

I'd just stick with Ava, having two Ava's in the family isn't the end of the world. If they don't like it, serves them right for stealing it.
If you picked a different name you might regret it later.

I would also be really cheesed off if that were me. Ava was also my choice for a little girl but we're having a boy. Its a beautiful name.

I NEVER tell anyone my chosen names because some bugger will always nick it!!

Remind them again how long you have wanted the name and tell them you still intend on having Ava - i guarantee they'll chose something else!

I'd be narked off too. I felt a little twinge, I must say, when my sister gave my latest niece one of my favourite names as her middle name. But a) she texted me to check it was ok and apologise, b) it's her middle name and c) it wasn't our first choice. In this instance, I wouldn't be best pleased. As the others have said, I would point out that you'd had it picked out since the year dot and are going to use it anyway. You can't make them change their mind, but they may well do as a result of that. At the very least, they could just use Ava as a middle name, which wouldn't be so in your face.
