handed in my notice yesterday. i officially finish here at the hospital on the 1 september. and i start at the school on the 4 september. no turning back now.

:? :? :?

Excellent news. Are you excited about starting at the school?

It's a good job that you're going to though, isn't it? :)

What are you going to be doing at the school Davina????

I am really excited about the new job

My title is Student Support Assistant and what that entails is that i will be one of the first aiders for the students and staff. i will deal with issues that the children come in with ie, cuts and bumps from fighting, tears from the new year 7, boyfriend issues etc.

also i will be phoning parents whose children havent come to school, looking after the naughty children sent out from their classrooms. looking after the special needs children who cant cope with the playground at lunchtime etc.

it is a very varied job, and i will have to use Excel, which i havent used since 1996 so ive forgotten it all :( have to try and get a book to revise.

good luck.. your new job sounds very interesting! you'll be dealing with something diferent every day.

Sounds great Davina - you'll be happy there!

been told that i have to pay £2666, which is most of my maternity back as i have broken my contract.

but the lady said that she shouldnt be telling me this, but if i join the bank (nhs temping) and just do one or two jobs then i am officially employed by the NHS and therefore i havent broken my contract.

i have a meeting next week to discuss this. plus on my maternity package all it said was that i had to work 3 months, not that i would have to pay it all back. i can accept that i should pay part of it.

but anyway if i can temp just one evening or a weekend then i shall be saved i hope.

The temping suggestion sounds like a bit of a godsend!!!

yay for you and the new job!!!

:cheer:

Bugger, thats naughty, I dodnt think you ever had to pay back maternety leave if you decided not to return to the job. curse that damn NHS! Hope you get things sorted okay and congrats on the new job! I would love to do that.

The new job sounds fab!

And the old one sounds crap with what they are trying to do to you! At least you have the temping option though - phew!
