Hi,

Just wondered if any of you tried this and if you think it worked or not? It can't help to be prepared!

Thanks

My Doula is going to come over on Sunday night to try some out so I'm hoping that it does work

Hi Natalie,

I'm planning a home birth so planning to book this for my due date (then cancel if needs be) so that I am doing everything I can to get this baby out before a possible induction!

Will you guys please let me know if it works for you?

Thanks!

hello,
when i was 40 weeks my mum gave me a reflexology and it didnt work (she is quilified reflexologest) i had a few but nothing! well i was induced at 42 weeks and through my labour i had a reflexology i was in labour for 4 hours whether it was because of the reflexology i dont know but my labour was ok im not going to say it was pain free but not half as bad as i thought it would be!
maybe its worth a try!

I'll let you know how I get on

As with all these 'remedies', I think it's only likely to work if your body is ready anyway - it could just tip the balance in favour of me going into labour, but is only likely to bring on something which would have happened on it's own in a few more days.

She was able to rearrange and come over this afternoon (no doubt to avoid the footie!!) Well it wasn't actually reflexology but acupressure massage so mostly on my legs and a bit on my feet. It brought on very strong braxton hicks contractions throughout but otherwise was very relaxing. If it's going to work it will apparently take 24-48 hours.

She also gave me some homeopathic tablets to start taking immediately. I'm starting with Caulophyllum. If that fails then apparently I go to Gelsemium.

So.....we'll see if any of this works. I'll keep you posted!

Oooh sounds promising. Even if it doesn't work you will feel relaxed for when the time is right. Can't wait to hear how you get on

She did warn me that it's still quite early - more likely to work from 39 weeks - totally depends on how ready my body is so all I can do is try and relax, and keep my fingers crossed!

Do you know someone who does reflexology?

Hi LB, No I don't know anyone but there are quite a few practitioners near me. One does home visits - do you think that would be best?

I'm 39 weeks on Tues so maybe towards the end of the week I could give it a try - even if it's just to relax. :)

The advantage of having it at home is that you stay nice and relaxed and maybe have a nice nap. If you go to a clinic then you have to make your own way home which sort of kills the relaxed state you are in, so I guess I'd recommend having it at home if it's an option.

Well I had strong BH contractions last night and then today I've had weak and irregular contractions which aren't really amounting to anything. So it seems as though my body has responded to it, but it's a little early for anything serious to happen just yet. It was certainly worth a try though.

She's going to do another session next Saturday if nothing's happened between now and then. In the meantime I'll keep going with the homeopathy.

Let me know how you get on though!
