Hi girls,

I gave up smoking 4 days ago and my AF is now 2 days late.

Does anyone know if giving up smoking can interfere with your cycle? I am not normally late and have no signs of either a BPF or AF about to arrive?

im not sure hun i wouldnt have thought so but then it depends how stressed you are from giving up as that could delay your af i suppose xxxxxxxxx

Hi Amanda
I gave up smoking last June (1 year 25/6 :cheer: ) and after smoking for 24  years I did notice my cycle was different. Soon after quitting I caught pregnant while on the pill unfortunately it wasn't to be, although it was the wake up call we needed to decide to have another one!
Well done with the quit and a sprinkling of baby dust for luck.
x

I just wanted to say well done for giving up, I know we were discussing this in a previous post.....

You were definitely right to give up before getting a BFP......unlike me :D (although did quit 2 days after BFP).

I would doubt it would effect your cycles too much, unless you are very stressed about giving up the ciggies??

Hope you get your BFP soon.

Thanks guys and well done Elliebelle! It is hell at times and I have done 4 days so far but will stick with it...

Will do a digi tomorrow morning and keep all my fingers and toes crossed!!

fingers crossed hun, hope you get a BFP.

I gave up around 5 years ago but I didn't keep track of my cycles then so I've no idea if it effected me or not.

I have heard that stress doesn't make your AF late, it makes your OV late and as your luteal phase is usually the same length then AF would appear to be late but it's actually the late OV causing it.

Sorry probably not explained that well, but if you only gave up 4 days ago then it would have been after your OV therefore the stress of giving up cannot have made you late as your OV can't have been affected.

But then again if you were planning on giving up for a few weeks then you could have been stressed enough just thinking about it to effect your OV

Either way lots of baby dust to you
