Random question... about pill/pregnancy.

I've noticed a few people have said they got pregnant whilst on the pill... just out of curiosity, was this due to not taking it on time (or similar reason - illness, antibiotics, etc) or were you taking it properly?

Sorry if you think I'm being nosey! Just I use the pill and had a slight scare the other month... turned out to be nothing though

No contraceptive can be 100% efective so its not uncommon to get pregnant on the pill.

I never did when I took the pill regularly, but everyone is different.

Also taking medication can affect the hormones from the pill so health professionals advise to use extra protection in that case

Thank you for replying. I know it's not totally rare, it just seems like one of those things where you think, "Oh it's so rare it'll never happen to me," but I know my family would kill me if it did.

Sort of unrelated: I've been hearing stories about girls at my college being pregnant and practically boasting about not knowing who the dad is, and others having quite a few abortions before they've even left KS4, etc. and I just think it's crazy! It's no wonder people get such negative ideas about teenage pregnancy, but being on here really proves that there are many good young parents! Not that I personally had any doubt (I've done many presentations on why teenage pregnancy might be a good thing sometimes, and also why abortion is quite bad - I've done a lot of internet research on both and found some very cool facts and stories!... both topics are very interesting for debates!)

I got pregnant with Kiara while on the pill.
I was on tri- cyclen for the past 4 years and i took it every day never missed one . I asked the doc he said its rare but does happen .
Thsi is why im getting my tubes tied after the new baby i dont trust nething

My Mum's friend got pregnant twice on the pill, you have to wonder if she was a bit slack about taking it!

It's quite strange in a way, that there are some people who come off the pill and can't get pregnant for months or even years afterwards, and others who can get pregnant on it! Just one of those things I suppose!

Hellokitty- i only have a low cahnce of havinga natural birth anyways so they said they can do it while im open anyways
Also i only want 2 kids and its perfect now i have a boy and a girl.
I know i wouldnt have the patience or moeny for more

i got pregnant twice on the pill too, took it religously, and i also got the OH to wear protection, sounds as if im tellin porkies doesnt it, haha a man just has to mpoint it at me and im sprogged up

I was told I may not be able to have children, as the pill I had been on hadn't been working properly so in effect I should have been pregnant by now but hadn't been. (Microgynol)

They then decided to transfer me to a new pill (something beginning with a C) that was a slightly weaker pill, and after 2(?) cycles I was pregnant. They must have given me a baby-producing pill instead of a baby-stopping pill LOL

I got pregnant with Eloise on the pill.
Bit of a shock for me and DH (wasn't my DH then - he was actually in another relationship... ) - Dr kept asking me if I had taken medication or missed a pill but I hadn't - TBH I don't think she believed me... but I'd been on the pill for 4 years - I knew when to take it and had never missed one!! It can happen i'm afraid.

i got pg on the pill... but i didnt take it properly. i always missed 3 or 4 every month, i thought i could get away with it- and i did for a few years, but got caught in the end!

i fell pregnant when i was 15 and i was on the pill, i never missed a pill had dioreah or was sick during takin my pill and i stll fell pregnant.
i had an abortion as i was too young, im still young and still wih the same partner and am now 5weeks pregnant!

my doctor advised me to run 2 packets of the pill to be 100%

I wouldnt go on the pill as i have heard too many mums falling pregnant on it! Id like to try depo again but dont want to if i want to get preg again as it takes too long for me to get pregnant when i come off it!

I actually don't have a clue how I got pregnant.We always used a condom,and if one had ever split,I would have taken the Morning After pill the day after.But no condom split or anything around the date of conception,or like I said,I would have been straight down the chemist's.I think it must have been one of those pin-prick holes in the condom you hear about....
The timing was unfortunate,I was just about to go on the pill before I found out I was pregnant...
