I was hoping the journals section would have been open by now, so instead I'll start one in here :)

I think it will be helpful for me to have somewhere to ramble or vent about my day to day life. I doubt it will be anything particularly interesting but will help me to manage some things better.

Anyway, a bit about me :)

I'm Emma-Mae Grace Dilkes and am 22 years old. I am a single Mummy and live with my 13 month old daughter Lexi-Mai Louise and my Dad. I am currently in my 2nd year of an adult nursing degree which is like having a full time job!

I am also learning to drive which is a HUGE pain in the arse! I am hoping to prove that young single mums can be successful and do just as well as two parents. And I know I will, it's just a matter of time ;)

Well thats me :)

It makes me angry the stigma attached to young single mums! I wish you the best of luck! Hope you prove them all wrong! Seems you have already done just that anyway!

Sounds like you're doing an amazing job hun! I have nothing but respect for young single mothers. My sister is 22 and has a 3 1/2 year old son who she has brought up all by herself since he was born, and he's the kindest, smartest most loving boy I know. I hate the stigma attached as well, but as we all know, quite often one amazing woman is better than having a dead beat dad around just for the sake of being "together"!

I'll be following your journal!

Thanks hun! It's ridiculous that people judge based on a number before seeing how good a parent someone is!

Thank you :) Yeah that's very true! I much prefer being on my own and raising LM than with an excuse of a man lol!

Well I have made a start on one of my many assignments :( I'm just doing loads of reading and note taking at the moment for the poster assessment of one of them. It's no fun really but have tried to make it more interesting by choosing an area I am particularly interested in, which is emergency and critical care. So I am learning about assessing signs of deteriorating health and initial assessments of the critically ill patient in the A&E department... I'm such a geek, ha!

Lexi-Mai is still full of beans as she only woke up from her nap at 5pm! She's drawing with her crayons lol, makes a change from her ragging the laptop off my knee while I try and work!

The neighbours are setting off crappy fireworks so keep hearing random unsynchronised bangs, grr!

Oh and I have just devoured over half a pack of chocolate digestives with a cup of tea, mmm :)

x

Watching 999: whats your emergency and thinking I should do a week with the paramedics. I really enjoy emergency care

I welled up when reg's wife died. Total admiration for paramedics. I couldn't do it x

It was horrible seeing him so sad :( last nights episode did make me think about my own mortality and my fear of death. A brew and biscuit soon made me feel better though!

Luckily I have never yet had to tell someome we couldnt help their relative. I do feel very privilidged to perform CPR etc in what could be a patients last moments xx

Trying to get motivated and do some more of my assignments, turned my laptop on at 10am and still no work done!! :wall2::wall2:

Hopefully a brew will sort this!

Well the cold weather is well and truly upon us! Hate it being so cold but do like the sunny days when we have one lol.
Just been doing more studying for my assignments, so boring!
Although day dreaming about the gorgeous paramedic at work helps ;) x

Your doing fab. Im putting off my nursing degree til Keiras older but i fear ill never do it.
Im also learning to drive and cant pass my poxy theory.
I love A&E and would love to work there or itu currently a band 2 in theatres.
Single mummy too xx

I'm sure you will hun :) It will be worth the wait.
The theory is getting harder I swear! I passed the second time but thought I was going to fail again! It's costing me a bomb paying for lessons!
Ooh theatres sound interesting, is it general surgery?
I've seen you in the single parents section every now and them lol :) xx

Yeah i browse alot on here.
I specialise in general surgery and emergency and weekends so anything that an inpatient needs or what cones through the dooor.
I hate the theory i always fail by 1-2 marks frustrating haha.x

Sounds good :) I've got a surgical placement after Christmas, I prefer critical care though. I think I have a week in day surgery and a week in recovery too.
Yeah I failed by 3 on my first go! Was sooo annoyed!
Need to just concentrate and I will pass lol, I just make stupid mistakes lol xx
