Anyone else trying quinoa with there little one as a good early source for protein and iron? Just wondered how other people were using it, like in recipes etc?

What the badgering hell is it lol? (sorry in not good with food! It took somebody a lot of explaining to tell me what avocado was!)

Google it for all the details. I found mention of it in a BLW book but it can be used for TW too. It's kinda similar to couscous but it's actually a bit bigger grain and is actually a seed crop grown in south America. It's high in protein and iron and used by vegans and vegetarians a lot. You cook it in a similar way to rice and couscous and it sort of expands and fluffs up. But like couscous you'd have to add stuff to it to give it taste. I've been making a porridge using it and formula or adding it to yoghurt and fruit mash. I was thinking about adding it to purées and dips because it seemed like an easy way to get protein and iron in him early on whilst I got him used to meat and fish etc. They sell it in Tesco under the whole foods section, I'm pretty sure most supermarkets sell it now.

I have just started to wean my lo, so no, but I hadn't thought about giving it to her! I love it and eat it all the time though. Do you mush it up or just give as is? It will be a while before my lo can have anything that textured I think.

It's pretty soft so I just add it to stuff or make a porridge. J hasnt had any issues getting it down.
