Hi Ladies

I just wondered everyone's thoughts on dummies? Madam won't settle between 9pm and 2am on a night....been fed, changed etc etc she's 9 days old.

Also not convinced she isn't dummying on me quite a bit.....was on booby from 7pm-11pm last night on and off..............and same again this morning, 3 feeds in about an hour and half, but she seems to be faffing alot! Or could it be a growth spurt?

So just wondered your thoughts on dummies? Is she too young? Dummy not a good idea when breastfeeding? Too hard to wean off? Nipple confusion? Lots of questions lol...........its just soo hard when she's screaming and screaming from 9-2am.

Thanks as always xxx

Isla used to use me as a dummy, but wouldn't take a dummy or a bottle so I was a bit stuck! It might be a bit early to offer a dummy to avoid any confusion for her, I knows it hard when all they want to do is suck something, when Isla found her fingers it was a godsend!

Tegan used to use me as a Dummy till 4am! i tried to introduce a Dummy when she was 3 weeks old but she refused it. at about six weeks she started to settle down more at night. your doing a Fab job Hun you should be proud of yourself x

ah thanks ladies, shes absolutely fine during the day and settles herself, its just those few hours on a night and when you're tired its so frustrating :(

Hopefully she'll settle down in a few weeks.....and we just need to assume she wont sleep until 2am and then anything earlier is a bonus for now! :)

if shes screaming in the evening like youve said and wont settle it sounds like colic and my LO had it even though he was breast fed. My LO had a dummy but would swap from boob to dummy to bottle. One of the good sides that the nct advisor said ws that a dummy isnt necessarily a bad thing as it can reduce SIDs (sudden infant death). So when the oldies started to lecture me "oh in my day" apart from F off I told them the facts x
