Ok. I stopped bf'ing when josh was 14 and a half weeks. He is now very nearly 25 weeks old. My right boob still leaks. Only a very small amount and only when I got skin to skin with josh. Just wondering, out of curiosity really if it's possible for me to get back my supply after so long? Part of me thinks that josh would still latch on or do you think that ship has sailed and I shouldn't bother? He is almost 6 months old. I miss bf'ing and felt so gutted I stopped. I wish I kept at it rather then giving up. I feel will for asking this to be honest. Probably no point me trying. :-(

I have no idea hun but the only way you would be able to get it back would be to put him to the breast and see what happens!

Xxxxx

I know its possible to relactate but i think it takes commitment and also he has to want to latch on. He might be used to bottles by now.
I understand how you are feeling, i have been combi feeding from 7 weeks but i just didnt have a choice.as he wasnt gaining much weight

I'm not sure but maybe you could if you still leak? I guess it would take a lot of patience to get a big enough supply going but it would be worth it If you could cos it sounds like you miss it!

Have u tried? That would be amazing if you could! Just relax and put no pressure on yourself :)

No, I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea straight away if my supply was really low? I wasn't sure if I should try to increase my supply first?

A baby is the most efficient thing at getting milk out. Maybe try a feed once a day when you notice it most or in the night. You can always top up after if needs be!

I would give it a try to see! Apparently Moms who adopt are able to breastfeed (maybe not exclusively) from pumping and taking domperidone and just letting the baby latch.

yeah, its worth a try hun, after all what have you got to lose lol. try it at night cos thats when milk production is best and see if u can get him to latch before each bottle if it works out well to build your supply back up

Logic would say there is still milk there to give and supply drives demand so I would give it a try! Unlikely it would b enough to satisfy him straight off but hopefully u could build up! Hope it works hun! Good luck xx

I would give it a go and see, if your boob still leaks then it should be possible! Do you have a pump? Maybe try pumping and see what happens!

Thanks. Think I may try the pump at first. I actually feel nervous about trying. But I want to. I have nothing against formula but it's just so much faff! And costly. And IMO breast milk is best.x

Go for it. If you don't try you'll never know. I'm with pinky though, baby is best at getting it out, so don't feel disheartened if the pump doesn't get much. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

^^this. I can still feed T bag after seemingly emptying my booby with the pump

hell hun at best you could bf again, at worst he just has formula and is happy as he is. middle ground is where i am lol, it wont hurt to try him. your just worried about being disappointed again i bet but u have nothing to lose :)

I thought about this as I leaked for ages after I stopped express breast feeding, but then I realised for me it wouldn't have worked as it was her refusal to latch on that gave us all the problems in the first place!! Lol. I'd say go for it - and out of interest let us know how you get on.

I work with people who try and increase their supply. If you had a good supply before it should be possible but it will take hard work for a few weeks. You need to feed Lo from breast on demand every feed then top up with formula to start with plus if he goes 3hours or more between feeds about an hour/90mins after Lo has latched on Express too. It's supply and demand so the more feeding and pumping u can do the more supply you can get back. Once u Lo starts to seem settled following feeds drop the top ups.

We decided it was best to not confuse him by introducing boob again. He is in a good routine and having food now too so don't want to upset the balance too much. It's a shame though. :-( I'm still leaking but its such small amounts. I will defo try bf'ing for longer with baby number 2 though.xx

If you wanted to do something you could always express (very frequently to start with to try and get your supply back) and give him any breastmilk you do get in a bottle?
