Can anyone recommend a pushchair that will suit both my baby (come June) and my almost 2 year old? My daughter is a good walker already and she likes walking but she will get tired on days out and need somewhere to sit down from time to time.

Thanks

I'm out on the hunt for one this weekend. I'd optimistically thought I could get away without a double, as my son will be two years two months when baby arrives and is generally a fab walker. However he does get tired after a while and I won't be in a position to carry him and push a buggy post c section!

We've bought the Oscar travel system from Kiddicare that is suitable from birth to 3 years. Also got a buggy board and going to get a sling. Fingers crossed we can manage without a double as we just don't have room for one in the house or the car boot!

Stupid question but is the sling for your toddler or baby?

My daughter was almost 16months when DD2 arrived.

First I coped with toddler in pushchair and baby in sling/carrier. Then I bought an obaby one which was far too massive!

Ended up Phil and Teds which worked well, I wasn't keen at first as felt bad for one at the back, but their view was better than I thought it'd be!

I also borrowed a side by side double and that was awful. Too wide, hard to steer and didn't look comfy.

Good luck!

xx

The sling would be for the baby although we do have a toddler Connecta for Caitlin but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to carry her for as she's getting pretty heavy!

I'm hoping to get away with a buggy board but think I might be kidding myself lol. My LO will be 22 months when baby arrives. Been as most kids are only in a buggy until they are 3 it seems a lot of money to spend for the sake of a year but needs must - I am going to wait until nearer due date and try out a buggy board on my LO normal pushchair and see if she likes it, if not I have my answer. Thing is my partner works 3 on 3 off and the baby groups etc I will be attending are only a 10 min walk from my house so I am thinking she will manage with a buggy board on those days. Then on OH days off we could always do our big errands and he could push LO in her lightweight buggy and I could push baby in the pram x

I'd thought about a buggy board but I prefer the idea of actually having my eldest strapped in for the times I'm in a hurry to get somewhere etc.

I tried a buggy board and it was a hit the first day we tried it and she hated it every time after that.
I have in and bought a second hand phil and teds double which I plan to sell on in the spring when my eldest is a little older.
x

Well we went looking in Mothercare today and I think I was a bit naive about this whole double buggy to be honest!

All the side by side ones were massive, I'm not too sure on the tandem ones. My son is a big boy and to get a good one he would fit comfortably in for the next year I would have to get a tandem one that's well out of my price range. Today has certainly been an eye opener!

Go second hand little monkey! You'll be able to get one half the price and in good condition x

Looking at the pushchairs it seems most only go up to 15kg, I've looked in DD's red book and that looks like an average weight for a 3 year old but if she keeps following her centile she'll be between 17-18kgs when she reaches 3 years old! Does anyone know of a tandem or double that will hold a toddler up to 20kgs?

We're going for the Babystyle Oyster Max BUT I'm going to look into buying all the parts separately from the manufacturer rather than going to mothercare as I understand it's significantly cheaper. I'm always loathe to give Mothercare any of my money, they're shockingly overpriced - the full Oyster Max set is nearly 800 quid with them but buying direct from Babystyle is approx 400!!

that's interesting, I was looking at that one!

I have the same issue, my boy isnt even two yet (23 months) and he already weighs over 15kg.

I even think he will be far too tall for a buggy board after measuring the handle height on our pram.

We are just going to have to drive every where over a mile!

I bought a second hand britax b dual which has the best reviews for space etc and it came with an adapter so the baby can go on the bottom but it's huge! I'm only 5ft 2 and with the hood up I can't see a thing! I have re sold it luckily so have my money back but struggling on what to buy that's not really high. Anybody have any reviews for the hauck free rider? X
