Puppy Love?

My eldest daughter is 14, and shes absolutely convinced shes in love.

Now I remember when I was that age and thinking I was in love, but now im in love for real I look back and know it wasnt love.....or was it?

Do you think that love is relative, and the love a 15 year old or younger feels is still love, but just not the same kind of love we feel as adults?

It is definitely relative.

She is in love - for a 14 year old.

When she is older and experiences true love then, like you, she will look back and laugh at how silly she was.

Right now, it's the real thing to her.

Hes a really nice lad too and they have both agreed they arnt ready for a sexual relationship, he seems just as wise and sensible as she is.

But yeah I agree I think it is all relative, I was about to give her the speech that my mum gave me "you cant possibly know what love is blah blah blah" but then I thought hang on, I was convinced my mum was wrong back then, so why do I have to assume now that she was right?

If you dont mind me asking, when you fell in love with him - was it at 14 or do you think its something that developed as you matured together? I mean....is the "grown up" love you feel now, a natural progression from "puppy love" or was it always grown up love? I hope that makes sense

I miss puppy love so much! Adult love is great but puppy love was just so powerful wasn't it!
I honestly thought that my world was going to end when I was about 14 because I was too porly to go to the school disco with my 1st love!!!!!
I wish the little things still meant so much!

Aww i remeber being that age and thinking i was in big time love! It is love - but for her age, I think love changes as you get older and get in a sexual relationship with that person

I was huge at 14, with spots and braces, then i went a bit mad and lost loads of weight and was a bronzed goddess, lol!!!

i was 14 when i met my first boyfriend we slept together at that age too

when we split up i was heart broken and cryed myself to sleep every night my heart ached too

so i do think you can be in love at that age

I know I was older but I met my OH when I was 16 and we are still together and i'm 23 now. I think that she probably thinks that she is in love as I remember feeling sooo in love with a boy that I wasn't even going out with. I was about 13 but I now know that it was lust not love. I suppose only time will tell as I think it takes time to really love somebody.

I was 14 when i started going out with my current boyfriend (that sounds so weird actuly to me!) we are both 17 now, and still completly in love!

Im not actuly sure wether it was love at first, or not, we have definatly both matured since then. But even if it was just puppy love, it was really great

Thanks for all the replies, it brings memories flooding back of when I was madly in love at 13, with a jon-bon-jovi look alike a couple of years above me at school, I thought about him every mimute of every day, I was convinced he only had to notice me and then he would fall madly in love with me and we would be together forever. But he never noticed me, and then I got my first boyfriend and forgot all about him....until now

Im just so proud that my baby girl is growing up so well, shes so sensible and shes got a lot of love to give - this lad better not treat her bad or he'll have me to answer to
