Hey all,

OH and I are still rather confused about what pram / pushchair etc to use.. As we live almost in countryside and have a dog to walk twice a day OH and I are outdoors alot so would ideally like a 3 wheeler off road all terrain type that is suitable from birth and as light weight as possible as there are a few hills to walk behind my house!!

We also like the idea of the micralite stroller / buggy as that is super light and simple / easy to fold etc... but this is not suitable for off roading.. if we could stretch to 2 buggies we would.. one would stay muddy in the garage and the other one could be for when we go out to town in and out of car etc...

Has anyone bought any second hand off ebay for example???

Any recommendations? To be honest the choice out there is doing my head in and all the good ones seem to be sooooo expensive and quite heavy / bulky... Would love to know what all of you think / prefer as most of you are already pushing your LO's around or have done the research unlike me!!

Thanks everso...

i am not a mummy yet but my friend has a three wheeler and she said its the worst thing she bought as its bulky and heavy and takes up the whole boot of the car. her opinion only i cannot speak from personal experience.

EERRRR...Sarah...there's no pic there!!! LOL!!

I haven't used it yet (although, I keep wizzing it around the living room!!) we have bought a quinny buzz. It's fab!! It's got pnuematic tyres at the back ( good for rough terrain ) and a double swivvle wheel at the front.

It also unfolds at the press of a button! I love it!!

We bought it on ebay.....it's second hand, but it's only 6 months old and in excellent condition. You really can't tell it's ever been used and stilll smells like new. We got all kinds of extras with it ansaved ourselves about £200 on the rrp!! Bargain! :D

Oh Sam I love the Quinny range too.. OH and I really wanted a Quinny Speedy SX but they go so quickly on ebay and not that cheaply either.. will keep a lookout though.. ideally we wanted an off roader that can just stay dirty and muddy in the garage whilst the stroller type [ideally a micralite or something very very easy to fold and lightweight] is used for other trips.. where i live is almost all countryside and with a dog to walk I will be out on the fields alot so the off roader will be the one used most... its very confusing and I don't want to spend loads of money and then change my mind after 6 months like so many of my friends / family have done with their choices...

BTW what colour buzz did you get for your little Molly?? x

I agree... it's a nightmare picking one.

You know... the wheels on the buzz just pop off really easily....I was just thinking that maybe you could just buy an extra set of wheels, one for rough, one for strolling? Just an idea...trying to save you some pennies!

I got the red reflection buzz, thought it would be good to have a neutral colour just incase we have another!!

Hi

I spent ages looking at prams/buggys because like you we live in the country but like going shopping in the city so we needed something that was going to be a comfy ride but easy to in the car.

We also bought the Quinny Buzz and I'm really pleased with it. It's not the lightest chassis but I dont struggle to lift it into a high boot. It's so easy to collapse and put up and my 11wk old daughter Olivia always looks nice and cosy when I'm taking her for a long walk along country roads and paths. I also like the way you can easily remove all the covers and interior of the carrycot and pushcair to wash them.

Thanks everyone, I really don't know what to do.. we are watching some Quinny's on ebay to see what they go for and maybe we will still go for the speedy SX - never thought about swapping wheels - that sounds a fab idea.. and yes being able to wash the bits and pieces is a necessity.. I get so muddy whenever I take my dog out so chances are LO will get filthy too just being near us!!!

MIL is buying us a pram so even if we bought 2 we would get one free - maybe I can convince my mum to get us the other!!

Lucy did / do you use a baby carrier when out walking in the country? I love the idea but wonder if they are really useful or not? I have heard good things about the wilkinet and babybjorn ones ...

Hi Anne Marie

The wheels on the buzz hose down really well, I normally wheel the pram round the back, quick blash of the hose then over some newspaper in the entrance hall and it's fine.

Baby carriers - I LOVE them! I bought this sling http://www.brightsparkslings.co.uk/ which I used loads when Olivia was a newborn because it was so comfy to walk in and Olivia would just fall asleep but be nice and cosy and warm (she was born in chilly Feb). She still goes in it now but she's a bit big to lay down and not sturdy enough to sit up in it so hopefully I'll get more use out of it in a month or two when she's more upright.
My SIL has leant me her Babybjorn and that's what I use for walks now (we don't have a dog but Olivia loves looking out and about because when she's lying flat in the pram there's not much of a view!) It's tricky getting adequate sun cover but I've just bought a few sun hats with a rim and that seems to be fine for shading her face and her legs are covered from her clothes. It's really easy to put on and the baby feels nice and secure. It's really comfy to wear as well and doesn't hurt my back or anything.
