apparently its also down to the way the sonographer holds the scanner. If she turned it around during your scan the baby would turn around and face the other way
It's got everything to do with the way the sonographer scans you. They will turn it so that they can get the best view of the baby - not necessarily replicating how baby is actually lying in your womb. If you ask the sonographer they will tell you how baby is lying - I'd have no idea from my scan piccies but baby is breech! They also move around a lot so no guarantees they will stay in the same position by the time you get home from the scan!
