Charlotte has been at nursery 4 weeks (3 days a week) and so far had a vomiting bug, a virus with high temp and now has a diarrhea bug. I suppose i expected it but after being off work on maternity leave for a year feel terrible that i have to be off work today to watch her - we have no local family. To top it off i am starting to feel ill today.

Does it get better?? Please.....!

yep it does!!!! but then they start with the nits etc etc etc.

it's so hard to stop them catching bugs and stuff from nursery though, but at least you know they are building up their immunity, so that hopefully when they start school they'll have some good protection against everything!!!

I know how you feel, but it does get better! Lucy used to get colds/coughs all the time but the older she's got the less and less she gets them, or if she does get it she doesn't get it as bad.

I used to feel awful ringing into work to tell them I couldn't make it in cos of Lucy being ill but after a while I realised that all parents have to go through it sometime and whether it's now or when they start school you can't avoid it!

Really sorry Charlotte gets all that stuff

The first time Daniel went to nursery he got the most terrbile tummy bug which made us decide against nursery and wait a till he is a bit older. So I am still a SATH mom.

Maybe a childminder would be a better option? With fewer kids there less chance she will get something...

hi, it does get better. i was off a few times myself when mark started nursery but it does get better. i was told its better for them to have all the bugs now as they will just pick them up when they start school. i found grace is doing much better but i gues mark has been bringing germs into the house since day 1 for her. my boss has been fine with time off i have had with kids plus they have to be flexible until the age of 5. hope things get better soon

Hiya

It does get better hun. Ash was constantly having a cold or a cough or sickness and diahorrea for the first 2-3 months.

But this last month, he seems to have been relatively ok. Maybe a bit snotty here and there but not too bad really.

They have to go through this at some point, whether it be when they go to nursery, or when they go to school.

Tough it out for 3 months or so and then if it isn't improving you could weigh up your options. But I'm sure it will improve.

i agree with other replies, Niamh was the same when she first started it does get better. x

I know what you mean nikkif, Dylan started nursery in May and has had a few tummy bugs and the cold a few times (he has it a bit just now). I'm looking forward to his immune system toughening up so he doesn't get ill so often! xx

ky has been going to the nursery that i work at for about 6ish weeks and hes had coughs, colds and viral infections continuously! i think the last week hes been ok and back to normally finally! Im waiting for the next thing to hit him any day now! im sure it will be chicken pox next
