we have made a firm choice of Clodagh for a girl but cant decide between these 2 for a boy
- i will give the pronucication as well because they are both irish names

1. Malachy Mulhern (malickay)
2. Conlith Mulhern (con-lith)

i also want it to 'fit' with the other kids names they are
-Jarlath - said as spelt
-Donall - we do the don bit of the name like rhyming with cone and all like the al at the start of albert
-Caitlin - kite-shleen

any views/help appreciaed

I have never he ard of either name.... but I do like them both!

I think I like Conlith best :D

i have always liked Malachy since i wated Angelas Ashes :D
Conlith sounds like an indigestion tablet.

Malachay :D

Have never heard of Conlith. xxx

I prefer Conlith - its so hard to find an irish boys name, i am struggling.

Malachy Mulhern (malickay) - Your naming him after a saint

It's a lovely name! But it's not an Irish, Celt name, it's actually Hebrew btw.

Just to throw my 2 pence in, how about;

Aodhan - aid-awn - Aiden

Bradán - bray-dawn - think it's just bradan

Cian - key-inn - Kane, Kian

Ciarán - key-rawn - Kieran (this means little dark one, would you be worried about that  mind you a few irish saints have been named this!)

Lochlann - lock-lun

Rían - ree-an - Ryan

Except that the Hebrew version (in English transliteration) is Malachi, if I remember correctly.

And Malachi was a fallen Angel, thrown out by god……he was a Nymph and was cast down to hell. It’s a nice name but………..erm……well……….

in my baby book it says malachi

taken from the hewbrew 'angel of god,'. in ireland it is spelt malachy and is the name of a saint.

i like malachy tho can be spelt with an i also at end think instead of a y just like that guy who was sining ing in that programme on bbc1 a few years ago.

i think the malachy's have it :cheer: - i didn't know it was hebrew - its very well known in ireland - there you go,learn something new every day- well you do if you're me :rotfl:
thanks everyone :D

I absolutely love Malachy!!! It's a really good strong boys' name.
