I've got Photoshop CS. I think most of the versions have the same sort of tools though 8)

I dont think you can do it in paint cos the selector tool wont do it properly. Well you could but only if you had a very steady hand!

If anyones got Paint Shop Pro rather than Photoshop its a bit easier cos it has a ready made edge-selector tool

OK cheers - have managed to cut around a pic in paint - it's not too bad. Def going to invest in photoshop though
