hi can anyone help me please? 50 years ago my Nan moved to this country from France. After living here a while she became a British citizen and had to give back her French passport, since then she hasn't had a passport. Now can anyone tell me how hard it would be for her to get a passport? I want to take her to France as her sister is ill and she hasn't seen her for nearly 50 years. Also if I want to drive in France do I have to do anything special apart from drive the other side of the road lol

If she's been a British citizen for nearly 50 years I can't see a problem - I would phone the passport office and find out what paperwork to look out and stuff. As for Driving in France you must wear a beret at all times and have onions round your neck! :rotfl:

For driving in France I should say you would need life insurance :rotfl:
(especially if you're thinking of driving in Paris)

If you're taking your own car you'll need a 'green card' from your insurance company (usually they give you a certain amount of time free with your normal policy, ie. 30 days) which covers you outside the UK.
If you're hiring a car then you'll just need your driving licence, passport and usually a credit card to show the hire company.

If your car doesn't have one already, one of these is essential :rotfl:

she's probably right. My dad left France when he was 38. He's 60 now and whenever he goes back he always says it's strange because it doesn't feel like home any more. Half the streets he doesn't even recognise any more. Buildings that used to be there are now something completely different.
Places change over the years. It's kind of sad really.
