I had just done the maternity and health visiting part of my nursing degree when I had my antinatel classes and TBH they were good even though I had alot of medical knowledge, had assisted with several births and actually ran a few classes!
I think the main thing is being relaxed and feeling confident about what is going to happen and i think that the classes really helped me and DH in that respect.
TBH I didnt take heed of the breathing and labour techniques I was taught once I was actually in labour as it was far too quick and I wasnt thinking rationally!
I will be going again this time, mainly for the labour advice and general update on things that may have changed since I had DS.
Its better to have the classes closer to the birth, you are due the day before me and I wouldnt want them any earlier than September. We did have quite a few sessions although cant remember how many but they were heavily padded out with relaxation time were we lay on the floor and listened to a cassette of a man telling you to float and breath, you could have prob had two productive sessions to go over the content of the classes if that was taken out.
