Mine aren't going to be until Jan, so if I go into labour early I won't get any, but oh well.

What topics do they usually cover?

Also, how easy to make friends is it at these classes? Has anyone stayed in touch with people they met at previous antenatal classes? I'm just feeling really lonely at the minute but I don't know how to meet new people. xx

Here they like you to come about 5/6 weeks before you're due. We had various information sessions about labour, pain relief, becoming a Dad, BFing, what happens after you have the baby and so on.

I didnt really meet anyone there - they were all a bit boring! Have you spoken to your MW about any other suitable groups? I know my BF group welcomes pg ladies :)

I asked the midwife at my 25 week appointment but she wasn't that helpful really. She said I'm too old to go to the young/teen mums group but might feel out of place at other classes as most people will be a lot older than me. She said the HV might be able to put me in touch with some people after baby is born, but that's 3 months away.

I know that there's a baby cafe near me, but not sure how welcome I'd be since I'm still pregnant xx

You are 100% welcome at Baby Cafe! We have one here :)

I might go to my local one when it's next on then :) Will have to look it up again, I can't remember when it is xx

Check it out hun and have a natter with the other mums. There may well be mum's like I was till recently who are pregnant AND BFing ;)

I'll let you know how I get on when I go xx

Ohhh whats a baby cafe? I have never heard of it before.

I too didn't make any friends at anti natal class, they all sat there looking like slapped arses! One of the topics they cover in my area is something called social baby. I dunno for sure what it is but i imagine its tips on how to get out and about with a small child.

I'm also really lonely. None of my friends have babies and i don't know of any mother and baby groups. I'm pretty new to my area and i end in the shops most days spending money i don't have just so i don't go mental in the house. Thats why i live on PF  always good crack on here xx

Where do you find them? Sorry to hijack the thread  xx

tbh i dotn keep in touch with anyone from antenatal. the were all proper stuck up, rich bitches! our first class was just a general what to expect in labour type one, then we had a feeding one, pain relief and somethin else i think. i learnt more off forums...

i never went to any classes if i'm honest, as my mw arranged them all too late :wall2: she was a nightmare in all honestly!
i agree, go along to any other groups you can find hon, and then when LO's here, maybe join some other groups - like baby massage or swimming (we love swimming!) or messy play. there is loads of different to get you out and about meeting other mums, and of course, the forums are great to! x
