Yesterday Ellie started panting. Imagine a panting dog and it is that sort of noise. If you distract her she stops, or she will just stop and then chat away. She doesn't seem distressed however I am a little worried. Is this just another thing she has discovered how to do and is practising like blowing rasberrys or is it a sign of a medical problem e.g. asthma?

Thanks

when alex first showed signs of asthma it was a definate wheeze and i wouldnt have described it as panting when i look back at his videos now i'm horrified it wasnt diagnosed sooner as it sounds awful and he saw several hv's and the locum before my own doc saw us and got it right away.

and he would def not stop if you distracted him - he pretty much wheezed 90% of the time till he was diagnosed and got his inhalers.

he does sometimes pant and i cant rememberwhen he first did it so it might have been a lot younger. i think he is just doing it like he does with any other noise he makes - just experimenting.

i wouldnt worry if she doenst seem distressed hun - maybe just mention it at next hv clinic to be ont he safe side.

Trouble is I can only take her to the HV drop in clinic's once a month now and the next one is not until 1st March. I could phone them up but I was hoping to find out if other people's LO go through this at some stage.

Typical those clinics are never when really need one are they

well it doesnt sound like how alex's asthma started if that gives any peace of mind hun.

My asthma wouldn't stop if you distracted me either- it would actually get worse until it was treated. So I agree, I dont think it can be that, shame you ahve to wait so long.... I think a quick phone call would be in order  Have you tried the NHS phoneline if you dont want to phone your HV clinic?

It definitely does give me peace of mind. There are 3 regular clinic's per week but I am at work for all of them. They only have one's once a month for working parents.

Ellis pants for attention. Really loudly and then when i look at him he smiles! he has his chin up eyes wide and mouth wide open when he does it too.

I am not sure if it is a stage but he is hilarious when he does it! and no other baby i know do it. Hope Ellie is just doing the same and it is not serious xxxxxxx

Katie does this when she is excited and wanting food - it still freaks me a little as I think she is struggling to breath - my mum keeps saying its normal but I totally sympathise.

She has stopped the panting now. Her latest trick is sticking her tongue out for ages. I do wonder if she think she is a dog? :rotfl:

When she gets excited she bounces up and down on her bum, I swear she is going to be a bum shuffler rather than crawl (apparently that is what I did).

haha i say to ellis when he pants .... are you a doggy and he just smiles and carries on. people think he is really clever!! haha xxxx

Katy does it all the time Nicky!! Just like a little puppy too :rotfl:

Shes being doing it for ages, just to amuse herself I think. She t :rotfl: nks its hilarious!
