Hi Ladies,

Quick question about BH's.....

I have had bad period pains on and off for the last two weeks, mainly in the evening after spending the day carting things around, doing laundry, hoovering, making beds etc... no frequency to them, mild when they started, easy to ignore and just erratic have em one day then none the next then they went away...

They initially were about 20 mins long on and off for an hour or so, but the last two days they have become increasingly worse.....so much so I need to breathe through them to help them ease and it's the whole way around my bump and into my lower back, last night we were at the cinema and I almost had to get my OH to take me home as they were hurting so bad, it was about every 10 mins for about 2 mins at a time.....this went on for 2 hours solid then I had about a 2 hour break then they started again when I was in bed. I used to get pretty awful heavy periods and the pain is exactly like day two of a heavy period day when the cramping pain is at it's strongest... moving about does not seem to make a difference....

Now this morning they are gone and I just have a constant dull/mild period pain, I only seem to get them in the evening. Had wee checked last week and it was clear, bubs is wriggling away beating me up, and I called my midwife who told me it was normal and to go to aquanatal class to help the pains fade which I did 3 days ago, this just seemed to make them worse since then as I was in bitts after the class and they have only come on like this since the class....

As Middy is not listening and these are slightly worrying as they seem to be getting stronger can anyone else shed light if they get BH's that are this sore? I thought it was just the tightening on it's own?

Help!!

Ouchy Cleo xxx :(

I just get the tightenings with no pain

Have you spoken to DAU/Labour ward at all? Usually the first thing they ask when I call or go in is whether I have had any painful cramps.

I get quite alot of braxton hicks but theyre never painful, a bit odd uncomfortable even but not painful. The other night DH and I had a row and I got quite upset and started getting painful cramps I was at tescos at the time and a couple of times had to stop what I was doing with the pain so was quite worried, when I got home I took myself off to bed to calm down and relax and they stopped but because they had worried me and because baby was quieter then normal the next day I saw the midwife who said they were probably just caused by the stress and to try and avoid getting stressed like that if possible but she wasn't concerned, after examining me and seeing how low baby was and that she was already starting to engage/about to start engaging she seemed more concerned about cramps and said if they happened again to contact them straight away and checked I had all the emergency midwife numbers etc. I haven't had any cramps since but if I do will definately make sure Im checked out!

It doesn't sound normal to be in so much pain with them and it sounds like you are concerned you worrying wont do you or baby any good so if I was you I would get them properly checked out to put your mind at rest if midwife isn't taking you as seriously as you'd like go to the hospital, do you have a number for the maternity ward at your hospital?

I get BH but they're never painful. I have also had some period like pains but never with any frequency or enough pain to stop me from doing anything.

If your MW isn't helping and you're still worried do you have a number for your local maternity unit?? You could give them a ring and see what they advise

if you have an hour read my post hun LOL, looks like we are both in the same boat.xx

I had this!

I get BHs a LOT. Daily and I wouldn't even know where to start with how many I get, probably around 20 per day, sometimes they're regular but without pain, sometimes they're irregular with a lot of discomfort.

A couple of weekends ago, I got what felt like early labour contractions. It was pretty scary tbh and sounds like what you had. I haven't had much else since and when I spoke to my MW, she said that you can not mistake labour and that some women are more prone to a bit of pain during a BH. It's all nerves etc apparently.

It also didn't help that Evie was back to back... Do you know how your LO is laying?

Point is, mine went on for about 4/5 days and went again (with a few days inbetween) and I'm still here, still pregnant, Evie's snuggly etc at 38 weeks  xxx
