Hi everyone!

OK so I plan to breastfeed and at times will also use a pump so that my partner can feed the baby on occasion, and to make things easier if we're out sometimes. Mostly, I'll breastfeed though.

I was looking for a budget-friendly option and found this one on Amazon, which has very good reviews: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00Q7X8WTU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=142IIRNF0EUW5&coliid=I14RDBK26TUJEO&psc=1

But, Mothercare have this on offer right now in their sale: http://www.mothercare.com/MAM-Breastfeeding-Starter-Kit/764967,default,pd.html and as far as I am aware, that's a really reputable brand. I also wouldn't afford that brand at full price.

The only difference between the 2 is one is electric, the other isn't.

Should I get the one which is in the sale? Or wait, as I'm only 14+2?

Hello

I bought a manual pump while I was pregnant. I didn't like the idea of an electric pump 'being in control' of my breast!

As it turns out I really struggled to express anything with the manual pump. I wish id bought an electric one right away.

I got one by Lansinoh in the sale, it was about £50. I think you can get some good deals if you keep your eye out. You can also hire them from Your local children's centre which I didn't know about when I was pregnant.

Hope you manage to find the right one for you.

I personally didn't buy mine until my baby was here as wasn't sure how I would get on with the bf and didn't want to waste any money. I bought a cheapy £10 manual one to start but hated it. The maternity support workers didn't advise to buy an electric one in the very start anyway. I got the lanisoh single electric one for £50 in the sale. Half price.

I've just bought the avent electric one for 60 on ebay brand new. God knows how ill get on with fb but id like to give it a go! Xxx

I started with the tommee tippee electric pump which I got on offer and it was fine for occasional expressing but due to the fact I had to start expressing every feed I needed a double pump and one that could handle months of use up to 8 times a day so I invested £250 in the Medela freestyle and it's been brilliant but that's because it suited what I needed it for and I would never have spent that amount of money if I hadn't been stuck in the situation of needing it. I don't know many people that have got on with manual pumping so personally I would go with an electric but it's really got to be you deciding what works for you x
