Offically getting old?

oh the joys of Kiss chase, tag, British bull dogs, superheros with your coat tied by the top button round your neck. climbing trees, making dens.

Respect for elders is very badly lacking now in youngsters! (god i feel old!)

I feel realy old now. I was dec 79 so only just a 70's child!

and I remember all this! The a teeam were the best, Its funny because me and DH were talking about spokey dokeys the other day and how cool you were if you had them!!
Kirlykird I remember the sprite and coca cola yo yos hubbys still got his!!

Brings back so many memories...
This is how id love rhys to be. Didnt do us any harm to play outside in the mud and up trees!!!

I was born in '73 and am proud!!

I didn't have a chopper but I did have a grifter bike, remember those? I loved watching Tiswas on Saturday mornings and then later on my younger brother used to watch wacaday with Timmy Mallett!

In the summer holidays me, my older brother and our friends used to walk 45 mins to and from the swimming baths and stay there all day! We used to make camps down the woods until they turned it into a housing estate which while they were building it we used to go and play on their JCBs and run a away from the night forman!!

My best friend was great and we'd always think of money making schemes so we could buy sweets so used to rake gardens, pick and sell blackberries, penny for the guy for bonfire night and carolling for Xmas!
When it was hot we used to buy coop pop and make a stall and sell it for 10p a cup!

There was a big dip in the road near where we lived and when it really rained it would flood and all us kids would stand at the side of the road to help push the cars through. We got soaked and dirty but we are all still here, noone died from getting rained on!

It is so sad life for kids isn't like this anymore and it was a big factor in our decision to move to a seaside town in the country here in Denmark. The kids here still all play outside, spend summer at the beach but they now all ride unicykles rather than regular bikes, its like having lots of cicus kids around!

Oh for the days when you could be uncontactable

i remember all this too...I am sooo old.

I also remember school diners were take it or leave it no choice that was what you got.

i remember the pop man delivering our pop for the week.

and yes i wrote to jim'll fix it to meet the muppets..I thought they were real :rotfl:

I had a specrum 128k computer which took about 5-10 mins to load the tape games which would then crash once loaded!
I used to play chuckie egg and manic miner!! they were great games!
I downloaded manic minor the other day,my 6 year old loves it. I cant get past levle 3!

I was born in 78, i used to love summer holidays....how kids now get bored with summer holidays is just beyond me. Everyday was an adventure....i have 2 brothers and i was the only girl on the estate so i was a total tomboy....we used to go on long bike rides..put rope on a branch over a stream and swing to and from.....make little camps in the woods and we'd always come across an old porn mag that had been left there from the year before by the bigger lads....We used to walk miles, nowhere inparticular...just to meet up with other kids. And why oh why did i fancy every single one of my brothers mates?
We used to ride our bikes over old waste land that has since been built on and stay there for hours just getting up to tricks.
We used to go carol singing, trick or treating and penny for the guying but we were always polite...trick or treaters now are just little hooligans.
In fact what happened to penny for the guy?? i never see kids do that anymore

I get a real nostaglic feeling when i think back to those times.

Pip your childhood sounds just like mine! We used to make a guy and sit outside the pub at lunchtime so all the tipsy people would give us money

We also had a rope swing over a stream and my mate got stung by a bee while swinging fell off and broke her arm but we still all used it!

As for the old porn mags, they were probably left by my older brother and his mates but yeah you would always find them in other peoples camps! :rotfl:
