Not ttc yet but would like some advice please?

I've got to track my cycles before the appointment with the gynae cancer specialist so I should get one more af before then. I got so obsessed with ttc when we first started that I had to force myself to try and forget it all before I went mental lol.

Now I think they class the start of the cycle at the first day of the last period? Or is it the last day? Thing is I've always had (tmi sorry) 4-5 days of bleeding and then about 3 days of brown discharge so when they ask me how long my af lasts do I count this discharge or just the bleeding?

This is an important appointment cos it will dictate when we start to ttc again now I've been told I could lose my ovaries within the next 2 years (been sent to cancer specialist because they want to see if it's hereditary and also if they can give me more time as I'm high risk for ovarian cancer)

Firslty I really hope your appointment goes well, its clear how much it means to you so I'm sending you all the luck in the world!

Secondly in response to your questions.. yes you are right the first day of period is classed as your CD1(& that means the first day of "full flow" period, so if you ever get spotting or a brown/pink discharge before do not count that as your first day). With your second question about gettign brown discharge after AF, that one i'm not so sure about, I usually have full flow AF for 4 days and then it goes much lighter and more like brown discharge on day 5 and I usually class that as a 5 day period, but if you experience that for 3 days I'm not sure whether you would continue to class that as part of your AF... I may be comletely wrong but I would imagine they will be more concerned with when AF starts and how long your cycles usually are rather than the length of AF itself.. hope everything goes well xxx

Just a thought if you have an iPhone there's a period tracker app which why I'm panicking as i know my period is late xxxxx

cycles are counted from the 1st full day of bleeding like full on red blood, i would say the last day is when you stop totally, i also have a couple of days of brown discharge which is just old blood apparently. So i bleed red for 3 days then brown for 2-3 too, so i count it as ended when my foof wipes clean.

Your cycle is counted as CD1 = first full day of red blood..............upto the point you ovulate, then the following days are classed as DPO ( days past Ovulation ) you should have around 14 DPO days ( on average, this is your luteal phase when the egg implants ) then hopefully a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!
