Feeling so bad today woke up and vomited blood( sorry TMI) there was no normal vomit just all blood, Called emergency doc who told me to go straight to my gp as this was not normal

Doc didnt seem to have much of an idea what caused it and just sent me home with a perscription for acid tablets and saying if it happens again to go straight to A and E

Feel realy miserable still have the usual nausea but feel dont feel right

Has anyone else vomited blood at all?

I would go straight to A&E no questions asked - it's not normal hon and so you need to be seen asap. x

What Annie said...I would def go to A&E as it doesnt sound normal...it may be nothing major but you need to get it checked...Hope everything is ok..

Xxx

was half thinkin that but was thinkin doc would have sent me straight there if he was worried, Gonna give it a few hours n see if i can get some sleep n if im not feeling right still then i might go, I feel so stupid goin to a and e if its not a propper emergency

Go now not a min later if it was really blood then it's a super emergency. And oh yes I am a doctor and I can see how a doctor even with a vag suspicion of hematemesis could tell you to wait and see.
On the bright side people with hematemesis are not able even to stand not to type on a forum. Maybe wassth else. But just go and check it now.

That was can't see, anyway got my point I hope. Keep us updated

Oh pet! I hope you feel better soon! I think I would have gone to A&E myself if I'd been vomming blood. xx

Hun I know exaqctly how you feel about going when its not a proper emergency, but what if it is hun?? xx

I would def go to A&E - there are emergencies and there are emergencies, and I think that most people would agree you are not time wasting if you go to A&E having vomited up blood. Good luck... thinking of you. xx

Thanks Hope, Do i even wanna start puttin hematemesis isto google?

I havent been sick since which im guessing is good, Feelin icky n bit tired but not like im about to colapse or anything like that

i just hate hospitals so so much, if i dont get sick again u think it be ok?

In my opinion every source of bleeding needs to be checked. Now if it was only a string of blood then it's probably a tearing in your esophagus from the effort during vomiting but if it was more blood then you need to get checked. If you don't feel dizzy then it's probably not so bad but still you need to be checked. Antacids are not so safe either in pregnancy, only some of those and in certain amounts if your gp isn't much an expert on that too that's one more thing for you to get sorted. Probably they will check your baby too if you go at hospital so besides of you hating hospitals maybe you get to see the baby too :)

Well it was more than a string of blood but I wouldnt have said it was loads, it was about 4 eh wretches if that makes sence and each one was a small amount of clear saliva like stuff and light but bring red blood about 1 or 2 tablespoons worth with each one and when i spat to clear my mouth it was all blood but like watery not tick, like when you rince after gum bleeding from washing your teeth

The pills he gave are called omeprazole he said they were safe during pregnancy

Ok listen what the problem is. It may or may not being a stomach bleed, maybe was from your gums? Maybe a noise bled that ended up n your tummy maybe it was a stomach bleed but only a mild case of viral gastritis....BUT your GP gave you pills for your stomach meaning that his clinical impression was that the blood was from your stomach and ANY stomCh bleed even a tiny one has to be checked, especially now that you are pregnant. Omeprazol is quite safe, I would only take it though if absolutely necessary and that's one more reason to get checked.
You have no idea what kind of people come at the a&e, people with nth but a sniff, believe me not even a single doctor could he upset of a pregnant woman wh vomited blood....

Ok m iPad likes autocorrecting a lot, sorry for that...

Ok thanks for all the help hun, Will phone DH and see if he can finish up work and come with me

Good girl, i hope it turns to only be a gum bleed or sth :) waiting to hear how are you doing when you are back.

Didnt get to go yet Hubby was workin late n only home now, Were trying to decide what to do, not sure if there any point still going when iv not been sick all day, should have just went first thing when the emergency doc told me to go to gp LOL

Im so the worst patient ever :-(

i usually have omaprezole for my acid reflux and the doctor wouldnt give me them cos i was preg, they would only give me gaviscon and said they wont prescribe anything else for stomach stuff during pg. as a former bulemic i can say that bleeding when throwing up is only usual if you have vomited to excess repeatedly in a short space of time, u get clear fluid as there is no food and it is basically saliva, u can get yellowish bile occasionally or small amounts of blood, usually bright red or pinky. darker blood or large amounts are something to be very concerned about as they could be a rupture or anything in your stomach, intestines or eosophagus.
