Hello,
My LO is 3 days old, on today she has finally got the hang of feeding and consequently fed most of the day since lunchtime she went to sleep for about 2 hours at 11 pm.
My questions are, is this amount if feeding normal? Is it possible she sucks for comfort? How do I get her to stay asleep when she's put down after falling asleep feeding?
Thank you from an anxious and tired new mummy!

Morning! My first few days with William were like that, it feels like he was constantly hungry and never sleeping and I didn't know when I was suppose to sleep but he was just tying to get my milk to come in and establish it which meant he was feeding alot, it does calm down but in the early days just feed him when he needs it, try and settle him down wherever he will sleep and when he does, drop anything and everything else and go to bed ! Don't do cleaning or hving visitors or anything just sleep when he sleeps where possible. There are loads of bfing experts on here who hve had loads more experience then me, I'm only. 4 weeks in but he has settled down an is totally different from this first few days . In sure more ppl will be along to give better advice lol xxx

Sounds like your LO is feeding nicely! The first 6 weeks can be pretty intense so i basically sat with my feet up, eating chocolate and drinking lots of water in the afternoon while LO fed and slept on me then over night we cosleep with cot attached to our bed so it is easy to role over and feed then get an hour or so sleep before the next feed. We did also give our son a dummy when he was a few days old as he is a comfort sucker but he will never take it if he wants the boob! We've just hit our 6months of feeding and still going strong. Best bit of advice i can really give is relax and enjoy as it really does go quick!

Wss

Don't worry about comfort suckling too much, baby just wants to be close to mummy! Very scary coming from such a safe cosy place to the big wide world!xx
