Hi! Am brand new to the site and to the whole TTC thing to be honest.

I'm 38 and been on different forms of the pill since I was 16 but have now admitted my need to be a mum (I'm a sister to 12, an aunt to 30 and a god mother to two!)

Although I've plenty of experience with babies/children I'm not so au fait with the whole TTC thing. My last pill was Cerazette, I stopped taking it about Oct last year and saw in Jan 1st with my first period. How long should I give it before I get concerned?

Am guessing as I've filled my body with the pill for so many years I've got to wait my turn but at 38 I'm wondering if I've left it a bit too late for nature to take it's course.

Hi hun and welcome  I'm not TTC but there is a whole section with lovely ladies who I'm sure will give you better info than me! I know a lot of women in my family that were 40+ and still conceived, are you using ov strips so you know where you are ovulating in your cycle? Have you periods been regular since Jan? xx

Hi, thanks for replying! No ov strips, where would I get them from? On a v v regular cycle of 28 days to the hour which I'm guessing is a good sign!

Hi Welshy, my story is a bit like yours, I am 37 and was on the mini pill ( on pill since I was 15) and came off last summer and within 3 months got my BFP so hopefully you won't have to wait too long. I used OV sticks for a few months to find out when I was ovulating and it seems to of done the trick. Wishing you loads of luck x

That's a great sign, I hear most of the girls getting off eBay, I think it's cheaper than buying them from Boots/Superdrug etc.. You can also track your CM? I will get you a link, give me a few minutes x

Hi there, welcome :)

Just wanted to say I am 37, 38 on Monday and like you always feared that maybe I'd left it too late - but thankfully I had no trouble conceiving whatsoever, so just wanted to reassure you that your age really shouldn't be a barrier. Good Luck! xx

Thanks all!

OV sticks ordered so it's onwards and upwards and fingers crossed for the best!

Hiya, welcome to the forum and good luck with ttc x

 welcome, nice to see more welshies :)

good luck ttc

I was on the pill from 15 until I was 31. We got married in May 2004 & I stopped taking the pill & conceived in September the same year. I am now 37 & although we'd not been ttc I had stopped taking the pill at the end of 2009. We decided to try for our 2nd in June 2010 & we conceived again in the September (this baby is due n our son's original due date).
What I would say is don't turn it into an obsession of thinking OMG I'm ovulating these days & turning it into a regime! It should be fun & I think the more relaxed you are, the easier you'll conceive. Eat sensibly, take folic acid & just bonk whenever you feel like it
They normally say allow 6-12 months before seeking advice. I used an iPhone app that was free & it actually tracked my period, but also depending on regularity & number of days in your cycle it indicates your fertile period. We had done it the week before & after, but also twice within the fertile period (with a 24 hour gap in-between) & it did the trick!!!!!
Just enjoy the practicing (my hubby enjoyed this bit the most he says ha ha ha ha ha).

Good luck & keep us up to date hun x
