hi to all.
im new to all this, so please bare with me.
i recently took 2 pregnancy tests and they both said pregnant,
i was a little naive and in denial but i did my reasearch and from what i gather the digital clear blue tests are 99% reliable.
however i took these tests one on thursday and followed the 3 day wait rule and did the other this morning.
my partner is exstatic, really thrilled, we had sex this morning and i started bleeding.
i am nearly 2 weeks over due for my period which happends around the first of the month.
now i know this may sound silly but from all i have read today (alot) it says its normal for you to get some spotting,
but im worried this is fairly heavy. i am not bleeding fast but i have blead what i consider to be quite a bit. i dont think this is just spotting.
i was just wondering if anyone else felt this way when they went through it or am i thinking too far in to it.
i just need a little peace of mind really.
i am going to the doctors tomorrow i know they will be able to explain better but im really scared.
i am only 20, i have no other health problems and am on no medication.

please if anyone can shine a little light on this for me it would mean alot.
thankyou for your time :)

Hi Clezzer, the bleeding may or may not be significant - some people just spot, others bleed quite regularly throughout their pregnancy and others don't bleed at all. Also it could be for any number of reasons - one being that your cervix changes during pregnancy and can become more sensitive if irritated (e.g. during sex) - so the blood could be coming from the surface of your cervix rather than necessarily from the womb. Generally brown coloured blood is old blood and is not cause for concern. Bright red blood should be reported to your doctor or midwife though. If the bleeding gets heavier or shows clots, or if you want peace of mind, go to A&E. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's just the irritated cervix thing.

IsaB has explained things well so I cannot add much.

I had some bleeding in first tri and went and saw my GP but as it eased I decided not to have further investigation.

If you had sex it may be you've irritated your cervix and any bleeding will soon stop. There is also the possibility of implantation bleeding iirc but am not sure exactly of dates but it can happen.

My advice would be much like IsaB's. Pop a pad on and keep an eye on it. If the bleeding becomes heavier or has clots in and you start to have cramps (as opposed to stretching pains) pop to A&E or call your Doc. If it remains as is or lessens I'd rest up tonight, and go see your GP or MW tomorrow.

Please let us know how you get on
