Need a beef stew/pie recipe quick!

I can't find my beef stew/pie recipe anywhere :doh:

I think last time I just floured the seasoned beef and sealed it then fried some onion till it was golden, bunged it all in a pan with carrots and beef stock (can't remember how much)?, simmered for an hour then bunged in some peas, gravy granules to thicken, put in a pirex dish, covered it in ready rolled pastry and cooked in't oven for 30-40 minutes.

Does this sound right to you or have I made a fundamental mistake?

I can see dinner being chips and something :doh:
 
Sounds about right luv!

Just add as much water as you'd like gravy, some of it will disappear with cooking!

Yummy, can Mhairi and I come for tea? :rotfl:

Sorry this is late

my stew I do

stewing steak
4-5 carrots
3-4 parsnips
2 onions
2 bay leaves
maybe a leek or 2 if i have them in.

bung it all in pan with water and simmer for a couple of hours

Then add a handful of barley and about 4 oxo cubes and leave another hour

Then thicken with bisto, make up some dumplings, chuck them in and wait 20 mins, then serve on to of boiled potatoes.

The next day its YUMMY with chips too ;)
