My daughter has the worst nappy rash she's ever had at the moment, she is teething again so she has had some pretty bad nappies but I was using pampers nappies and then tried 3 or 4 different supermarket own brand nappies and it seems to have gone totally out of control! I try to give it some air but as soon as her nappy comes off she starts grabbing and scratching at it which makes it even more red. I'm using sudocrem but it's not doing a lot at the moment so I bought some bepanthen which made it flare up and become really raised so I'm at a loose end. Any advice lovely ladies x

You could try weleda nappy cream, it's all natural, maybe the other brands are irritating her skin because she's very sensitive xxx

She is prone to dry patches which I am also and she was prescribed cetraben cream to apply daily but even that doesn't stop the random flare ups she gets on her arms and legs. The worry I have with leaving her nappy off is that she has one of those red blobby birthmarks inside her little lips and the doctor told me to be careful she doesn't make it bleed with her little nails as it doesn't stop bleeding easily. Where can I buy this cream from? x

Hi, I use a cream called Bentley organic baby nappy balm which has helped loads and seems really soothing. My lo also gets dry skin patches so I now bath him every other day then use dream cream from lush - it's all natural ingredients the main one being oat milk and I now only use it now and again as it's cleared up (my lo is almost 11 months and you can use the cream from 3 months upwards) x

Ah brilliant that sounds promising, I think natural may be the way forward as all these other creams I've spent a fortune on haven't really done anything. Most creams are more of a preventative not a cream for I have a case of really bad nappy rash that I need gone ASAP! x

Are these creams available in chemists? x

Have you tried metanium? I use it when my daughter has a flare up, literally need to put it on once and by the morning the rash has practically gone. X

Funny you mention that cream J_Anne my friend has literally just text me to say she used it and it was brilliant! I defo need to try something it looks so sore and red poor little sausage! x

Metanium always works a treat for us, if he's got any sore bits atall I just out a bit on before bed after his bath, and by morning it's completely better. Brill stuff! X

I will defo look into this cream. Somebody suggested putting bicarb in a bath? Not sure but I;m willing to try everything. I'm so glad she wont remember how horrible this time is for her lol x

Quite a few people I know rave about organic coconut oil

What about putting some gloves on her hands and giving her some nappy free time - that way she can't scratch herself ?

Jake had terrible nappy rash when he was younger, I tried everything but they all seemed to make it worse, he even bled a little it was awful and heartbreaking, even the GP couldn't help me so he sent me to A&E and they gave me this fantastic paste called Orabase Protective Paste and it started working just after a day! it's all I ever used on him after that, it's amazing stuff, some chemists sell it but I had to order it online once the one from the hospital ran out x

When Rosie got it really bad I found best to after her bath we would dry her bits with a hair dryer (on cool) then lather on sudocreme! Worked a treat! Xx

Cam used to get awful nappy rash when teething. Blistered and bleeding and so red and inflamed. Metanium is amazing stuff and clears it up ever so quickly.

When I changed him this morning he had pooped in the night and it had obviousky been there a while so his little bottom is all red. I've bunged on some metanium and I'm certain it'll be gone by next nappy change in a few hours. Tis great stuff!!

XX

Have tried everything. My baby has had terrible nappy rash for weeks now. I've been to the doctor 3 times. I have just ordered 2 tubes of this online. Thanks for mentioning it. I've never heard of that before but have used all the other creams mentioned here with no results so hopefully this makes a difference xx

My pleasure, it's amazing stuff, let me know how you get on with it, any other cream I tried made Jakes even worse but this stuff was like magic x

My LO has the odd bout of nappy rash when none of the traddional barrier creams will help. I find mentatnium or whatever it's called is the best barrier cream. My gp and childminder both recommended canasten cream for when his nappy rash flares up really bady and it works a treat.

Thanks ladies, I've been changing her bum really frequently the last few days and given her some air time and dried her bits well etc its going down but not fast enough so I'm going to by some of this cream tomorrow . I found some Boots spray on nappy rash cream but I might wait until this has cleared up before I try anything else. I'm still shocked at how bad bepanthen made it so much worse!! Strange how babies bums differ so much! x

I swear by calendula range from weleda at boots. Bit expensive but works miles better. My tube is still full! Worth it x
