That was the first thing I asked him, being the cynic that I am

My first thought was he's either done something or he got the chocs for free or something.

He showed me the receipt though he even paid for them

I buy OH little gifts all the time...I bought him some Lindt Lindor chocs last week...he was pleased until he found out that they had been reduced to 99p and I'd bought 3 boxes for backup!!
