Hi everyone

For the past week Gabriella has reverted back to being a newborn and is waking every 3 to 4 hours. She is just literally waking to feed and is going back to sleep. She is having a good feed each time as well.

I spoke the HV about it and she reckons she is going through a growth spurt and is also a hungry baby. SHe told me to increase my calories as my milk may not be filling her up. I have done this and she is still waking so frequently in the night. Growth spurts only normally last a few days don't they?

I am now thinking about giving her a formula feed before bed to see if that makes any difference, I really don't want to but I want her to be getting enough.

Has anyone else had any experience of this?

yes i have and the best thing to do is to just relax and feed her as and when she wants and for as long as she wants.
Make yourself some healthy snacks to munch whilst feeding her and alwasy have a drink.
don't introduce formula milk yet as it will affect your milk supply even more :)
just bare with it. its all normal and try to relax. in a few days she will be content again,.

TBH I would be tempted to try giving her some baby rice at lunch-time mixed with your breast milk. I know it is early based on current advice but it could be an indication she needs more than just milk.

I also had this problem and was told by the doctor to intorduce formula, i wish i had'nt -as my milk supply slowed right down. In the end i had to give up with the breast feeding cos my milk slowly dried up-I was gutted as i wanted to continue breast feeding untill Mia was a 1yr old.

So i agree with Nicky-try not to introduce formula yet and maybe try a little babyrice or rusk mixed with your milk at lunchtime, you may be surprised as it might just be what she needs! Is she teething could that be why shes waking more frequently??
