Multiples- Did you have any signs it was a multiple pregnancy before it was confirmed.

Since I had a very early bfp ( 7 days after getting positive ovulation test) and I got my 3+ on digi at 18 days after positive ovulation test, I've had a few people mention that it may be twins. Now I can't get it out of my mind.

did anyone else have signs that they were having multiples early. was an early pregnancy result a sign?

I got a 3+ digi cd 28. Was so terrified it was twins. My due date has been brought forward a week meaning I ovulated round about cd 7. Just one baby.i was terrified it was twins though

An early result could mean twins but could also be because you ovulated slightly earlier than normal or implanted quite quickly. I wouldn’t worry about twins unless they are visible on the scans. I think you’ll drive yourself mad!

I've heard of an early result or strong symptoms meaning twins but I've also heard about both those things and people having single babies. Try and forget about twins until you have your scan and they confirm either way as you'll drive yourself mad.

If it is twins you'll manage brilliantly btw, so not really anything to worry about anyway :)

Same as above, got 3 weeks plus at only 15 days post ovulation with my first baby and only one. This one I had to have a hcg level check due to bleeding and that was also on the edge of the higher range but again only one. Think we all just have spurts of hcg at different times in pregnancy and may not mean twins. Xx

I know I didn't ovulate early as I had a positive ovulation test on cycle day 18 and also that was the only day I had sex so I know I conceived then. I had a positive pregnancy test 7 days after positive ovulation.

I must've implanted really early after conception. I don't really have any symptoms, not much nausea and tiredness has gone. I would be stressed if I had twins though. I'd have 4 kids 4 and under. (Although lovely at the same time)

Is there a history of twins in the family? The only one that runs is non identical if it is on your side. If you got a really early positive then it may be two implantations or maybe just one making loads of hcg.
I got my positive on a cheapie at 11dpo, a good line. Then another on a 25hcg the same day, neither were fmu and lines were sting. I did a digi the next day and got 1-2. Got 3+ at 20dpo.

Also the sickness has been awful!

When do you have a scan? Only way to fully tell but unless there is a family history then maybe not. Although I also had a couple of other factors, being older (39), first pregnancy and having a naughty bmi.

I guess what will be will be xx and there's no way of knowing for sure until a scan x

4 children already - you are a hero!

I'd have 4 if I had twins, I have 2 now.

There are 2 sets of twins in my family (Grandmother's side ) but I'm not sure if they were identical.
I'm 34 so not quite over that 35 mark but not far off, plus I'm breastfeeding my 2 children which I didn't realise breastfeeding increase your chance of twins by 9 times!!

I've read that the more pregnancies you have the more likeky it is to be twins.

It's probably not but I suppose I want to prepare myself in case.

I was just wondering whether early implantation is a sign. Not sure how I implanted so early.

I got a really faint bfp at around 8 DPO with this pregnancy, I only BD once in the whole cycle and got my positive ovulation test the day after BD, and then probably ovulated the day after my positive ov test, my scans at 8 and 12 weeks pretty much confirmed this (round of applause for my OHs sperm for holding on for the egg to arrive for that long :)) I got 3+ on digi at around 18dpo too, and have had really awful sickness relentlessly from early on but there’s definitely only one in there, think she just implanted early and was a nice strong egg, but there is every chance it could be twins for you, I’ve actually seen some people with twins saying they didn’t get an obvious positive till AF due and not many symptoms either so I think you can never really tell xx

I've also read that early implantation and higher levels of hcg could mean a girl which was correct for your first pregnancy.

Yes I got Positive ovulation test about 12 hours after we had sex. So I presume I ovulation the day after, so had my positive pregnancy test 6 days after that and 3+ 17 days after that.
Like I said in my previous post, girls can implant earlier so that seems to have been the case for you.

My sister has 4 kids all through single pregnancies and was breastfeeding when she got pregnant with at least 1 of them.

There are factors that increase your chance of having twins, but it's all still very up in the air and not guarantee's. Don't worry about it though. Honestly you will be fine either way. I know it's hard, I always have the twins thing in my head as well before my first scans... I don't know why but it always pops in to my head.

I went to school with triplets who had an older sister (only a year). I can only imagine the shock their parents had when they found out, but they were happy and well looked after.

Yes ive read girls can implant earlier and I think the sickness can be worse too, I had sickness and tiredness from 7dpo to about 16dpo then it went away for around 10 - 14 days and I felt fine, so was worrying, but it came back really badly after that! I think I seen you saying on another thread your sickness seems to have gone but honestly try not to worry for now, see how you feel in 2 weeks time x

our pregnancies seem to be very similar so far. We'll see if my sickness come back next week.

Last time i got pg i was basal temping and it showed that my egg implanted on 4dpo i had a clear bfp at 6dpo but there was only one little bean in there.
Not saying its not a possibility but its also not a given that an early bfp = twins.
There are twins in my family too so i always have the 'i wonder' moments too.
Xxx

...can somebody explain all the dpo and bpd acronyms being thrown around here? Maybe there is a cheatsheet to shorthanding prego-speak? xD
I'm new to literally all of this.

It’s always possible, but probably not twins. I got my bfp super early too and had 3+ on a digi at 14dpo. My blood HCG dated me at 5.5 weeks when I was bang on on 4. I was throwing up before my period was even late.... and I have just the one baby. :) I agree with what others have suggested, this one probably just implanted quickly for you.

That’s interesting, in which case this one would be a girl too. Find out in two weeks! :)

Does sound like you have a few factors that could mean it was twins with family history and breastfeeding... be interested to see what the scan says when you have one xx
