Just thought i'd share as i only found out about this last week!

Basically you register at your local chemist, the scheme is available for anyone who does not pay for scripts, ie babies, children, mummys up to a year, peeps on benefits etc.

You can get free treatment for the following

• back pain
• indigestion
• dermatitis
• nasal congestion
• constipation
• migraine
• acne
• cough
• sprains and strains
• headache

So teething gel and calpol is included, you cant ask for brand names etc, but i ended up with bonjella and calpol

Great also when i had a heavy cold a few weeks ago saved me a fortune in cough meds etc.

Its easy to register, the phamasist does have the option of making you go to the GP, but to just get meds a bit of aqueous cream etc, it saves a lot of hassle!

It's fab! We managed to get Becky's cream on it last week (which costs £6/125g to buy over the counter) when the surgery's prescription printing was gubbed. We've also had gaviscon on it when she was still on that when we'd run out before our repeat prescription came through.

I was told calpol wasn't available on it though?

I think I got one of these too. I got a book of my GP and its called care at the chemist and they just fill it in every time you use it. I got it for thrush and was made up but wish I'd known about it sooner.

It's great - was really useful for James' reflux and meant that I didn't have to go to the GP every time I needed more gaviscon for him! May be just a scottish thing though Sparky, just noticed you're in "sunny" midlothian too (think it's going to be summer before the snow melts!!)
