My baby appears to have a cows milk allergy. I was combi feeding but he has blood in his poo after having formula now so hes just exclusively bf. I eat a lot of dairy though and because of hus allergy and my increasing awareness of the horrors of dairy farming, i'd like to stop drinking milk.

What are the alternatives? Is sofa milk safe? Are there options like coconut milk?

You will still need to use a formula not a milk sub, maybe try SMA lactose free or they so sma soya I think it's in a green tub but maybe try the lactose free one first. It's in a blue tin.

If you don't want to stop bf then cut down on your dairy. Alpro soya milk should be fine they also do yogurts, tescos do a dairy free marg.

I think that's what she's asking for because she wants to cut out dairy in her diet coz she's exclusively BF.

Just look on the side & see what says dairy free. My sil uses almond milk for her weaned daughter who has a cows milk allergy & she's fine on it

I am vegan EBF mama.... I haven't taken dairy for 12 years... Good alternatives are almond milk (which is a galactagogue), rice milk, and yes, soy milk. Although a small percentage of babies who are allergic / sensitive to dairy are also sensitive to soy.... So I have actually reduced my soy consumption in favour of almond milk.

To replace cheese, you can use tofu. Also soy yoghurt and deserts are yummy, specially in the UK, where you have a wide variety of dairy replacement products.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I mean for my diet. I've stopped giving him a bottle now. I thought if I changedmy diet now, it will benefit him now and sart some new good habits before I wean him then he can eat what I eat if you know what I mean.

Thanks, ill definitely look at almond milk and give it a try :)

Meant to say that coconut milk is also great for lactation. All that yummy fat and protein, and we can afford drinking it as we are breastfeeding. Sweet! I have it with my oats in the morning. It's a bit rich but you can thin in down a bit with water. Enjoy!!
