Never had a migraine in my life until now. I don't know how people deal with them. I've had a full migraine since 6am Thursday morning. No signs of it going away . Throbbing, light sensitivity, visual disturbance the lot. Every time i cough it feels like someone's stabbing me in the head. Omfg

Doctors not concerned about the baby, said I've a viral infection that has been going about and a migraine is part of it. Bp etc fine.. Paracetamol apparently is all I can have but that's not even touching the sides tbh. I've tried sleeping it off but I've a 4 year old so not really possible.

Moaning done, does anyone have any advice on helping to ease them. Eating drinking, safe pregnancy meds, anything at all...I'm going to go back to the chemist tomorrow if it's still there but anything to help now would be fab desperately need a decent sleep

Oh i suffer with migraines and they're the worst. Naproxen always takes the edge off but not sure about using it in pregnancy. Dark room cold compress and peace and quiet will help hun

Thank you ugh they are I feel for you. Hoping this is my first and last. Gosh I wish I could, dd currently in bed and I'm doing the washing and cleaning I didn't do yesterday and this morning... can't wait for my bed lol xx

Oh man! I really feel your pain I usually get sick with them too plus the runs! Hopefully you get your bed ASAP!

I had a week a couple of weeks ago where I had what was "nearly" a migrane.I say nearly because it was the worst headache of my life but I know some people have it way worse. Behind my eyes was so much pain. I bought some gel compresses, one on my head and one on the back of my neck which along with paracetamol really took the edge off. I never suffer with headaches so it was awful. Hope it's better soon

Cold towel to the Base of your neck helps too!

You can take co codamol when pregnant (t1&2 I think) and that should help. Just ask the pharmacist first. But yeah cold compress on the base of the neck, dark room, sleep. I just write the day off when I have one. Hey are horrid!

Thanks ladies. I still have it this morning but I think it's not as strong. Cold compress to my neck definitely helped me get to sleep last night. It's been over 48 hours so hopefully that means it is easing off? Did my cleaning with sunglasses on last night I looked like a basket case lol. I feel for anyone who deals with this on a regular basis I'm floored after two days xx

Try a can of regular coke - I've suffered with migraines for years & no drugs touch them but that helps everytime! Feel better

I have suffered with severe migraines since I was 17 (nausea, sickness, shakes, hot and cold flushes, sensitivity to light, noise, head feeling like its going to literally explode, unable to do anything and they can last up to 5 days).
I have always been terrible at taking tablets etc but even when I did, no matter what it is they only take the edge off a little.
Over the years they gradually reduced and I would only have maybe one a month (I used to have at least 1 weekly and life was miserable tbh), just before I fell pregnant I managed 3 months without one! However from 8 weeks onwards they came back with a vengeance and they were constant along with morning sickness until I was around 16weeks.
The only thing I found that helped without medication was classic cola as mentioned above, just drink a can and try to nap for at least 30min or so, I wouldn't have been able to carry on working if it wasn't for that! It really was a life saver! I'm not sure if its the mix of the sugar and caffeine but it really does help.
From that point in the second trimester they went away again completely, its been soooo nice not having migraines anymore and I have felt great most days. However I woke up with one this morning for the first time since then (I'm now 38 weeks). I have kept some cans of coke in the fridge just in case I need them so this morning hubby brought one up for me to have in bed before I got up, and again it did the trick (better than meds used to previously). Don't get me wrong it wont completely take it away but does so enough to make you feel more comfortable and get on with the day.
It must just be a change in hormones, they are awful but if you don't normally get them they should go away again afterwards, hopefully :)

I suffer with them too and find nothing but time helps unfortunately. I also use 4head which is like a menthol stick you rub on your forehead and that helps a little bit. It’s better for a normal headache tho! Will be trying the cola next time for sure!!

Im like yourself shan cuz I don't get headaches regularly never mind migraines but since being pregnant I feel like my head is never done being sore haha if it isn't throwing up constantly until week 18 then it's now constant pain in the head or strained round ligaments or fibroids for me hahaha nightmare xx
