Hey girls, i know its early but when is it usual to visit maternity wards, i only ask because i'm caught between two and don't know what to do. My midwife is from Hereford, already had bloods done etc, but OH and i were born in Gloucester and that is another hospital that is just as close..... I've heard good and bad things about both.
Do you think i should visit...like soon...and make up my mind? Or do any of you have any experiences of either of these hospitals???
Not sure what to do.......

erm...yep...you will see it..and it will see u...in all your glory! :rotfl:

perhaops in ask a mum section.. for mum who have birthed at both?

My sister went to GRH Midwife led unit, said it was ok but then her bub did pop out rather quick so she wasn't actually in the delivery room. Hereford is a bit of a way to travel though to get to GRH.

Ours does an open evening every 2nd Tues of the month so we went last month.

i had nathan at GRH after transfering from home. for the delivery it was ok- i had to go to consultant unit. i found they were trying to intervene and you could tell they were used to more riskier births. however it was a good natural delivery. the only critisism of GRH is the aftercare if your planning to breastfeed or are anxious about after the birth then you might not find it as helpful as youd think. i dont know if they were scared to approach me cos they knew i was a nurse or what?

I live in Ross on Wye, so i'm right between the two. Went on another forum and there was some negative comments about hereford. Also i think GRH is midwife led? and a new unit? Not sure???

grh has a midwife led unit and consultant unit. theyre not new built in the 70s or 80s id guess????? its alright there i dont like to moan about it too much cos i only have happy memories of nathan being born there. :D

I have just moved down to Cheltenham so have been looking into the various options. My initial reaction was to go to Glos as they have the birthing unit. But on research and taking to a few people Cheltenham gets much better comments.

* that reminds me must work out where the hospital is*
