Hey ladies

I'm hoping someone can help me hear as can never get hold of my local citizens advice and not able to get through to my accountants today either.

I'll try to explain as simple as poss;

I set up my own company at the end of 2007, before I found out I was pregnant.

I am the director of the company, and currently the sole employee. As the situation is, I am classed as employed by the company I own, and not self employed.

If I take off any time for maternity leave, the company won't operate or earn money.

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind, if any, maternity pay I would be entitled to and how/where I could claim it from?

Any info would be appreciated. :)

you may be better off speaking to HM Revenue and Customs rather than the CAB, as this sounds rather complicated, especialy as the business is effectively gonna be 'closed' during your maternity leave

depending wether you fit the qualifying criteria then Maternity allowance may be payable

As you are an employee of the company, you might be eligable for maternity pay from your company. Your company would then reclaim this from HMRC - your company might also get an extra few percent back.

It might be worth looking at the HMRC mat pay calculator to see if an employee (you) qualify's, what you are entitled to and what you (as a company/employer) can then reclaim.

Hope you get somewhere,

Clare
