I have herd that if your baby is born after april that you are intitled to 9 month maternity leave. Is this true?

Yes, except it's if you're DUE on or after 1st April 2007 irrespective of when the baby's actually born.

nine months paid? Does that count for maternity allowance? I am always asking these questions, I don't think the answer goes into my head properly!

I know I will get £108 a week, but how long will I get it for and when can it start? I forgotted!!!!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread but my dnesity might come in handy to others!!!

lol M I look at this nearly every week cause I always forget (or to see if the government have decided to give more SMP lol) so basically if you are due on or after 1st of April the rules are as follows :

You will receive 9 months SMP which will consist of the first 6 weeks at 90% of your normal wage or £108 a week (which ever is the higher) and the remainder of the 9 months (so 7 months 2 weeks) at £108 a week Stat Mat Pay.

You can start your mat leave (so start getting the SMP) from 15 weeks before the due date IIRC or as late as you want to your due date (so a week before if you want) and your 9 months will start from basically the day you stop going in to work.

Dont know if this is just our company or a government thing but if we are off sick for pregnancy related illness something like 6 or 8 weeks before the due date our mat leave automatically starts from then (How rude)

hope this helped chuck

Dont even go there asking me about working tax credits and child allowence cause I dont know where to even bloody start!
