Just thought this section would benefit from a load of us sharing tips to do with makeup. Stuff like how to apply products to make them last longer, whats the best products, anything on offer at the mo etc etc

My tip is THROW AWAY all ur powder eye shadows and convert like me to cream eye shadows, I did this only a few weeks ago and its sooooooo much better. Bobbi Brown in particular do brilliant colours and they r easier to put on, waterproof, the colour is more noticable (still subtle tho if u know what i mean) and lasts till u wash it off, it feels nicer than powder too as its moisterising

erm not really got any tips i am like you though love cream eye shadows i wear a light brown.

on nights out i wear grey and have the "smokey eye look"

and i think blue eyed people should wear blue eye liner makes eyes look lovely

somebody please tell me in simple steps how you do smokey eyes........

Well smoky eyes are easier to do with creme shadow as u use ur finger and its less fiddly than brushes.

Start by using a very dark colour to line the edges of ur eyes and work outwards with lighter colours of the same shade, go all over the socket and use a white or nude colour just under ur eyebrows to define them.

Think sexy, smouldering eyes that make u look mysterious lol

Practice makes perfect :D

cheers Mary

That's pretty much what I do but I've always used powder. I've never really felt I can achieve the effect properly.
I'm on a night out this weekend so I'll try it out then with creme shadows.

Ooh, I've got lots!!

I used to be the manager of Birmingham Body Shop and we got loads of training, not that you'd know it to see the kip of my face :rotfl:

Here's my top tip

A foundation brush gives an 'airbrushed' finish to foundation if you've got time but I never bother with sponges. Your fingers will warm the product and help it blend in. :D

Do we have a favourite make-up product? I depend on my YSL Touche Eclat to stop me looking like a corpse

I rely on my touche eclat as well. I have a whole stack of channel stuff and I find their foundation is fantastic. Luckily I hardly ever wear it so one bottle lasts about a year. :cheer:

I only really wear MAC make-up I find it lasts all day and never creases etc

Benefit playstick for perfect foundation every time. Christian dior for lip gloss

The only tip I like is to use cheap mascara. I used to use Maybeline intense XXL and my lashes were all clumpy and thick. A friend said to use cheap mascara then you can build it up. So I bought one for £1 from Wilkinsons and it is brilliant. My lashes are all separate and even.

this is not really a make up tip, in fact it's quite the opposite, i hope u do't mind!

if, like me, you're addicted to make up, my advice would be to spend a few days without any make up on, or the bare minimum (meaning just mascara, for instance).

your skin will feel so fresh afterwards, and your pores will be able to breathe for a few days. there is great benefit in it. :D

I love spending a day in my tracksuit bottoms with my hair and make up a mess cos the next day when I get ready properly I feel great in comparison 8)

about the cream eye shadow - do u apply it with a finger, a spongey thing on a stick or a brush?

foundation tip - if you're not sure whether you have a foundation line, squash your chin down (like you're giving yourself a double chin) and you should be able to see if you've blended properly where your face meets your neck :D

I need to buy loads of new make up, but I'm crap at anything to do with make-up... only wear it on nights out.

How do I know what to buy? What shade of foundation etc, I need brush and blusher and stuff i just don't know where to start :?

I think with foundation you test it to see if it blends on your jaw line or the back of your thumb and if its the same shade then its right for you. Please someone correct me if Im wrong! :?

I have really small eyes and to make them bigger I was given a tip of wearing a nautral eye make up so i wear a creamy beige on my lids and then have a slight flick in the corner of my eyes and with a few layers of mascara on (maybelline sky high curves - brilliant) and it makes them look huge.
I also wear foundation with a bit of sparkly dust in my cheeks to make me look healthy and natural and wear lip gloss, defintely the fcuk one everytime.

Thos is when im off out though i dont wear it at home unless im feeling rough and need a pick me up day

I only wear make up on a night or day out, I dont wear it day to day - just wash with cold water and use nivea moisturiser morning and night - its why I am 32 and even though ive smoked half my life still look in my mid-twenties :) (i DO, i said I DO OK :rotfl: )

But I do have some tips - before applying foundation, give your lips a rub with a tooth brush (not the one you clean your teeth with tho lol) to get rid of any flakes, and then apply foundation onto your lips with the rest of your face. Gives a great base for lipstick which will then last longer :)

Also, when applying any kind fo face poweder, blusher or powder eyeshadow, put your mirror on the table and do it looking down so that the excess powder wont end up ruining any other make-up.

for eyeliner
i put on the pencil 1st and then go over with liquid cos i cant use liquid on its own
bloody looks well good though

If you ask in boots they will do some testers on you and see which type and shade suits your skin :)
