After 8 weeks of Maisie refusing to BF during the day and feeding every hour during the night instead I have decided to switch to formula tomorrow.

I have tried everything I can think of to get her to feed during the day and the last couple of weeks have just been a depressing battle. We have not been able to go to any play groups or anything as there is no way in the world she would feed anywhere like that.

I feel bad but my boobs are like rocks and agony since she hasn't fed for 12 hours.

I managed 5 months so at least she had some breast milk.

Just want to say well done to Midna- don't know how you manage on the lack of sleep

Aww, bless ya. At least you tried very hard! Give yourself some credit.

   Taking the decision is the hardest thing of all..   Well done on getting to 5 months though...

Well done. You have done a fantastic job getting to 5 months. x

 good on you for 5 months, a fab achievement. don't you dare feel bad, feel proud!!!!!

will just say though, have you switched completely? If not I would drop on one feed at a time to prevent against engorgement and possible mastitis.

Thank you

BEANIE-I am going to switch completely tomorrow but express for a period and gradually express less as she is so unpredictable when she feeds there is no way I could pick a specific feed.

I just think that with formula feeding she can nosey about while eating and maybe she will take more during the day.

I did think about expressing during the day but to be honest I don't have the time or energy left to do it.

I just don't want you to risk mastitis, it is the last thing you need. Take care of yourself hun

5 months is great hun, well done, hope you get LO settled on formula and into a nice routine so you can get some rest too

hey  5 months is an excellent time, please dont give yourself a hard time, youve done great :cheer: :cheer:

Well done! 5 months is brill! Hope I make it that far! :D

Well done for getting to 5months you've done fantastic and you should be very proud of yourself

Aw fothers, it sounds like you have really had a hard time. You've done so well to get to 5 months, I'm really really pleased for you. I hope stopping breastfeeding goes okay - please continue to post if you need support or  .

Thinking of you.

Well, we started formula this morning and she is having small amounts little and often- a few mouthfuls every 5-10mins- seems she just doesn't want a big feed like she didn't with BF during the day but it is so much less stressful as she can just sip whilst playing etc and DP can help too.

I think I will continue BF through the night as that will be the easiest option then til as I think she will still feed a lot then.

I feel so much happier today- feel like a huge weight had been lifted :D

Also, strange thing is I was chatting to my mum and she said I stopped BF at 5m and refused formula too. She ended up having to just fed me solids supplemented with evaporated milk laced with ribena from a cup :puke: :rotfl: Anyway it never did me any harm so even if she ends up with more calories from food/less from milk than recommended I am just going to go with it. They are too little for too short a time to spend it stressing

Glad your feeling better today and LO is just fine  As Midna said... well done for BF for so long!

Hey Fothers, well done for Breast Feeding as long as you have I really admire that! Sounds like you have made the right decision if you are feeling better. A good Mum is a sane Mum and that's what's important. Sounds like you might be weaning soon anyway.

Well done Hon!!
