what foods did you start coby on and what was your preparation

hi hun

do you mean finger foods or right from the start?

i will go from the start...

i started with 2 types of veg, say carrot and sweet potatoe, and blend them up with a bit of his milk.

then i would just try diffrent types, like colli and brocili...i would always mix them with his fomula milk.

i left him on diffrent veg for 2 months then i started to introduce chicken and white fish in with the veg, still mixed with his milk to make it creamy and blended it up to liqiud.

then i would just start to add less milk making it more thicker each week so that in the end it became like thick paste.

then once he was used to that i started to mash things but add water so that it was easy to take.

now i have introduced red meats, like lamb and beef and pasta so i chop them up really finely and give them to him, he gagged at first (i think all babies do at first) but he soon got used to them.

i gave coby rice cakes from 5 months old just so he got used to bits in food. i sit him in his high chair as i make dinner for everyone and give him bits to try, cucumber, tomarto, bread etc just to see what he can handle and cant.

so now he just eats anything, for lunch i normal give him something he can eat himself just so he feels involed, like pasta, rice (thats messy tho!) veg, sasuages, bread etc then give him a banana or sliced mango.

then for dinner i chop something up like tuna pasta or spag bol and spoon feed him, just so i know hes had a good meal. and a yogert or jelly for pudding.

for breakfast i used to give him baby rice with diffrent stewd fruit in it, now i give him either weeabix or readybreak with stewed fruit in. and a potatoe cake or a bit of toast after (cut in to soilders)

i hope i havent waffled on to much, is that ok or is there anything else you wanted to know hun?

thanks. liam just wont eat anything but jars and it is really frustrating. do you think i should stop the jars then he wwill have to eat homemade or maybe cut jars out once a day to start. hate the blooming jars

jars are still ok, stat him on the 7month ones, some have more lumps in than others i noticed so try to pick the ones with a few bits in to start.

have you tried givibg him a buscuit or rice cake? farleys do finger buscuits, they are quite good.

or give him a banana to try, will be messy tho so watch out lol

will have a go.

i have a sweet pot and carrots for his tea. should i bake the potato and boil the carrot

Just to jump in and say that I bake the potato in it's skin, when cooked it slides off really easily :)

getting all confused, as i want to try it your way, but then there the other post where they are letting their babies eat their own way. but liam likes to eat off a spoon. i think i will try your way first layla and work up from there.

thanks x

just see how you get on hun, there is no right or wrong way to do anything, its down to personal choice and what you and the baby is comfy with, if it doesnt work out this way then try a diffrent way, but dont get yourself to worried about it, he will get there when he is ready :)

xx

you wouldnt think that i had 2 others already been through this stage would you.

kieran ate anything and everything, but this would have been better for joshua as he doesnt eat any veg. we have to puree it down and hide it.

hi

i did te sweet potato carrot and baby milk and he ate it. gave him a bit of cauli and he vomited everything up :(

thats great that he ate it tho! :)

was it mashed or blended?

try him on cauli tomorrow, i used to stick to one taste at a time.
