Well today was my last day in work and I am over the moon. I've been struggling the last few weeks, and cannot wait now for a more relaxed pace and actually spending some quality time with my family.

I've also realised that the next few weeks are the last time I'll have some time to myself for a while. We've paid for my eldest to go to the childminder full time until the baby is about a month old, in anticipation of needing a bit of a break. So he will be there a few days a week while I'm on mat leave.

I'm determined to make the most of this time doing things for myself. Last time I didn't finish until 37 weeks and by that point I was virtually house bound.

What's everyone else got planned for mat leave?!

Awww it is so lovely when you finish isn't it?! How far gone are you now? Last time I was able to finish at 34 weeks due to leave and it was bliss! This time I will leave probably about 36 weeks, as I'm not off my last mat keave yet but it will be spent trying to sort out all my little one's stuff to see what I can get ready for number two and, as last time, a non stop major house clean when nesting kicks in. I will be keeping my son in nursery for two days a week throughout, both ore and after birth so I can have some time to prepare and do 'baby' things with the little one, but the rest of the time will be focused on getting as many cuddles and playtimes in with him as I can before my attention is divided! :( xxxx

I had two days annual leave this week and it was lovely just to be pottering about at home. I am back at work today, and I am counting down until mat leave! I've got 10 days left over the next two and a half weeks.

It's my last day tomorrow! I'm so exited! Have you got any nice treats for yourself? I'll be 37 week on Friday and I'm so ready to take trying slower- if I get the chance. I'm planning a few nice girly dates with my friends and should really see my grandmothers. I live on a farm and we start lambing in 2 weeks so although I unfortunately won't be helping in the sheep shed this year I will be in charge of looking after staff, making their meals etc and popping into town for fuel or medicines or anything else needed.

I also plan on getting my hair done and a pedicure as my feet ache this week.

Enjoy your free time

I finished up yesterday at 36+4 and was def ready for it, on annual leave until my due date.
today I had the midwife and then came home had an afternoon nap then had a long bubble bath. Tomorrow is my birthday and OH is taking me away then spend some time with family over Easter. I've got a spa day booked with my best friend next Wed and a presentation next Thurs to see what the next steps are for this stubborn breech baby.

Hi CDx bless ya have you tried spinningbabies website? They recommend the inversion and breech tilt as natural ways to turn baby, other than that spend a lot of time on all fours as this gives them maximum space to move...it's worth a try...bet you're looking forward to spa day, can they do pregnancy massage where you're going? I have a pregnancy massage booked next Thursday and can't wait!

I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am :) Enjoy and hope you get some relaxation in before the big day! I am finishing at 37+2, and at nearly 23 weeks, I am already beginning to regret this decision lol. Xx

Yeah booked in for a massage kitten so can't wait for some much needed relaxation! I've been having a look on that site, I think I'm kind of half resigned to needing a section. Convinced it's a boy now because of the stubbornness.

Lol well its upto you at end of the day. Have fun at your massage...

Louise I'm 34 weeks, but am measuring ahead and feeling very big so I was finding it a struggle.

Mayflower I was the same, I had a couple of days off for my son's birthday a fortnight ago and I struggled going back for my remaining shifts. Especially having to do three evenings last week.

I'm still up at this ridiculous time thanks to OH's alarm and LO will be awake soon anyway. But it's nice knowing once I've got him out this morning the day is mine! Going to get a much needed hair cut this afternoon and I've already told OH I'm not lifting a finger around the house over the easter weekend!

Try not to worry too much about needing a section. I had an emergency with my son and have chosen an elective with this baby. It really isn't too bad, and the recovery can be straight forward if you give yourself time to rest etc (hard lesson learned for me I'm afraid!)

Thank you, it really hasn't bothered me too much just the thought of the recovery and a newborn is a bit daunting. Baby has been breech since around 30 weeks and no matter what I've tried their head just seems to like being nestled under my ribs. I like the idea of having a date and knowing exactly what will happen as I'm really impatient. I guess I'm not fussed either way as long as baby gets here safely.

I did see some ridiculous post on Facebook the other day about c-sec and how you should admire the superior woman who did it naturally that completely infuriated me.

I finished work on Monday at exactly 35 weeks. Was literally in work 1hr and 50mins before I left for hospital appointment.

I'm taking annual leave till 12th April then maternity leave kicks in. Being induced at 39weeks though baby is measuring perfect atm (got GD) so finger crossed all goes according to plan.

So got some time to myself to potter around the house and generally go out and about to the shops whenever I need to without the hassle of rush hour traffic and take things easy due to having SPD.

Booked an appointment at beauty clinic for next week to get all the waxing done lol.

God people like this annoy me! And the ones who think that a section in the easy option. Major abdominal surgery is not easy!!!! I read a fab article the other day about labour plans being a waste of time. It said that with any other major medical procedures you wouldn't expect to be able to control the situation, but we still do it with giving birth.

With recovery just get as many people to have you as physically possible. Turn away visitors who you know won't help and don't try to do everything.

I'm working up until 39 weeks :( :(
Really dreading it but can't afford to do it any earlier.

It was the same with my first. Finished work on Friday, had her by 7am the following Thursday.
Those magical 5 days were filled with my company going into administration (which resulted in me losing my maternity pay) 2 trips to hospital (high BP) a fall down the stairs, a fall down a muddy embankment and 26 hrs of labour.

So much for getting some rest!! lol x
