Well it's officially my last day at work before my annual leave and maternity leave kicks in and as it's a sort of a tradition that we have to buy cream cakes/muffins etc for any sort of celebration so I decided to find the recipe out for chocolate concrete and take that in to work instead. All I can say is what a result - haven't had this for years and it tastes just like I remember it, and as my diet is out officially not starting until next month I ended up making 2 batches so I can pig out at home over the next few days.

If anyone remembers this from school and would like the recipe let me know and I'll post in on the forum.

Annette

i not heard of it before, we got any pics

I don't remember it, but I'm doing a cooking course at the mo and trying out new recipes... if it's an easy one to post then it'd be great to see how you made it :) If it's too long don't worry though :) x

11oz butter/margerine
2 eggs
2oz cocoa powder
1 lb self raising flour
3/4 lb granulated sugar

this make 2 12 by 7 inch trays you can half the recipe to make one but in our house you may as well make the two it goes that fast
put your cooker on gas mark 3

melt the butter, whilst this is melting mix all dry ingredients (best to sieve the flour and cocoa to make sure there are no lumps) then add melted butter and mix well until you have a stiff consistancy. beat the two eggs and gently mix them in until your consistancy sofens.

Divide the mixture into the trays and gently press into the corners and flatten into the tin( it will appear greasy and it is supposed to look like this,) sprinkle with water and put in the very top of your oven. leave for 45 minutes check the top and if it feels hard take it out and put on a wire tray to cool as it cools it hardens the advice here is to cut it then leave to cool.

oooh is this what they used to serve with that pink custard???????

Oh I remember - it's the stuff that you used to put your spoon into and it would shoot out of the bowl and hit the ceiling cos it was so hard ! :rotfl:
