Someone was asking if any one is HONESTLY doing their pelvic floor exersizes, is anyone in here? i really cant remember to do them i have done about 2 days worth!! alot of people in tri 2 said they hadnt done them. I dont think i will be able to get myself into a routine of remembering them and doing them.

I dont so much! I never did with my others  Though I was very lucky and have never had problems but since seeing the physio over my SPD and her being very shocked that I had never had trouble I thought maybe I should! Plus she said it would help my SPD but tbh I still always forget! She did actually say that I have very good PFM and I must do them without realising! That probably why I havent had problems even after having 3 children in less than 3 years! hahaha

None.

But then I'm not sure I entirely know how to. In the book the mw gave me it says do 10 short ones and then 10 you hold for a little while and I just don't seem to be able to hold them at all (which I suppose could just be really atrocious PFMs!! :wall: )

I really think I ought to though as I really don't like the thought of what might be waiting round the corner! :?

Not yet although I had to do them after having Mel as it was seriously bad for quite a while afterwards. If I get problems when the baby gets bigger then I will although I'm pretty sure that our physio said that unless you were doing them because of existing problems with incontinence during pregnancy the main reason for doing them before having a baby is to get to know what it feels like to be able to actually use the muscle. One of the best pieces of advice anyone ever gave me before labour was when she told us not to panic when you first try to do one after a vaginal birth- I lay in bed and tried it and nothing happened, it was like there was no muscle! After a few hours I could get a tiny bit of feeling and then as the days went on it go easier to use it but it was a real shock to start with. I did lots before having Mel but I think it all got wiped out by the birth, might be wrong but that's what it felt like. Afterwards I really did do them as I had the whole sneezing/laughing problem but they did work!

What pelvic exercises??? :D

Should I have been told to do them by the midwife?

I knew about Pelvic floor exercies, but to be honest I completely forgot about doing them until I saw this thread. I didn't encounter any problems after having my daughter, but then I did have a c-section, so there was no pushing down below for me!!

Nope I'm rubbish. And I'm still not convinced I do them right even when I remember.
