what a waste of time!!
All they did was check my weight and blood pressure!
She said she was concerned that i lost ALOT of blood (400ml) but didnt do any blood tests or anything

Is that all you girlies have had done in your 6 week check?

ive just been told that i wont even get a check  apparently my doctor doesnt do them automatically any more but to make an appointment if i have anything wrong with me christopher will have a full medical on monday though xxxx

I thought it would have been more than that  , as my HV said the nurse had to do it and that it had to be a double appointment? I wouldnt have thought taking blood pressure and weight would be a double appointment. Didnt they talk to you about what sort of contraception you wanted to go on?

i have mineon monday so i'll let you know what happens when i get back. :D

At mine I didn't even get weighed or bp taken! All it was was a little chat to see how I am feeling, how the scar is and what contraception I wanted to use! Only took about 10 minutes!

i didn't get weighed... just my bp, and he had a prod of my belly.

he did alices check at the same time.

my doc started to write my out a prescription for a pill, but when i questioned the hormone levels bringing the oc back he refered me to the family planning clinic

some times/doctors do an internal, but i think that is if you had a nasty tear / cut.

sounds like a waste of time but I have been told to make an appointment for 6 weeks. not sure who with though????

Alls that happened at mine was a talk about contraception. I was in there about 3 minutes. A lot of doctors round here are stopping doing them too. There was never any mention of blood loss either. I lost 450mls but I only knew that cos it said on my notes cos no one ever mentioned it.

my doc spent a lot of time asking how I felt and how I was coping with being a new mum - which I really appreciated. He also spent ages checking Grace over and talked to her the whole itme he was doing it..it was so sweet.

he asked how my scar was but didn't check it as I said all was fine and he didn't check bp or weight either...............

he was arranged for me to go for a blood test though as I lost a lot of blood having my c. section and was very anaemic afterwards,.....

they all seem to be so different ........... must say I am happy with mine though - he really did seem to care about both Grace and myself

Man the NHS sucks. Over here at 6 weeks i got an internal check, full blood count taken, bp, weighed, contraceptive and the same at 10 weeks!

i to lost 400ml blood i just made sure i ate iron rich foods for the next few weeks until i felt better. if you have any iron tablets left you could take those. they didnt check alot at mine just blood pressure, and sorted out contraception. i dont know how necessary the other checks are perhaps thats why they dont do them anymore?

i didnt even get asked about contraception
luckily i dont need it because i dont have a partner

i was just told if i needed to sort out contraception to go to the family planning clinic  always sorted it with my doctors before xxx

I've been told to book a double appointment with the doctor and a normal appointment with the nurse for when Austin's 8 weeks old, so they can do my check, his check and his jabs all at the same time.
