I was just wondering what everyone's different experience's are of IVH's.

Anya had a grade IV in the first few days of life on the front right hand side. So far physio and consultant are delighted with her. They thought she's have a weakness on her left side, but so far, so good.

I know every baby is different. Just wondering.

xx

Hey chick,
No experience with that chick. Lo was 7 weeks early (i see Your LO was 16 wks early...WOW), so maybe didn't need/have it. Just out of interest what is it chick??? xxxxxx

Yeah she was born at 23+6. :) IVH is IntraVentricular Hemorrhage. Bleeding on the brain. xx

Hi

Congratulations on baby Anya and glad that she is doing well.

My twin boys are 6 weeks old, born at 28+1. Jacob suffered an IVH grade IV in the same area the day after birth. We have been told that he will suffer from probably mild cerebral palsy on his left side but this may not be apparent until he is at least 18 months old. They have said that they currently cannot say if this will affect his learning development or not.

How old is Anya now and what kind of follow ups is she having for this? Did Anya suffer from any lung problems? Jacob also had a hemorrhage on his lungs and is currently still on CPAP but doing well and progressing slowly.

His brother Ben has been a little more lucky and has only suffered minor premature problems. He is breathing by himself and growing strong and healthy. :)

How are Ben and Jacob doing t1ger1977?

Anya is 10.5 months actual now. Her brain was scanned weekly until we left the neonatal unit (we were in there for 136 days). We have appointments every 3 months but her brai is never checked, she's seen by a registrar and physio. So far they don't see any problems with her. She has been rolling for some time now and is trying to crawl. Anya has chronic lung disease. She was on a ventilator for 5.5 weeks then cpap for 8 weeks before they attempted to wean her off it. The maximum o2 she needed was 40% when she had pneumonia. She came home on o2 set at 0.1 but no longer needs this. She's doing amazingly. We're back for a check up next month. :) xx
